St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has hit out at the SPFL after the league's official website carried a mock-up photo of Michael O'Halloran in a Rangers shirt.
Wright, who has rejected two bids from the Scottish Championship side for the striker, has accused Scottish football chiefs of double standards.
"Michael O'Halloran being super-imposed in Rangers kit, I don't think that's very fair on St Johnstone Football Club," said Wright.
"But it's okay to do it for a small club, it wouldn't happen to any of the bigger clubs. They wouldn't dare do that to any of the bigger clubs.
"It happens in all walks of life, not just football, when you're down the ladder a little bit, you tend to get trampled on at times."
Mark Warburton's side are reportedly considering making a third bid for the Glasgow-born striker, but Wright is confident O'Halloran will stay and will play him against Hibernian in Saturday's League Cup semi-final at Tynecastle.
"There's been no third bid," added Wright in the Daily Record. "Unless it comes in after Saturday, but there's been nothing in the background to suggest it will.
"Michael has been absolutely superb in training all week and he'll play on Saturday. He played well on Saturday against Celtic and is in a good frame of mind. We left him out of the Hamilton game because it had been bubbling and it came to the fore that week.
"He's still a young man and to be fair he struggled to deal with it. The next week was totally different. Okay, it was in the press every day but he dealt with it and how he played at Celtic showed he is mentally in a good place at the moment.
"We are still planning for him being here after Saturday."
