Chesterfield have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Gary Liddle from Bradford for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old has put pen to paper on long-term contract and becomes Chesterfield's second deadline-day signing following the earlier arrival of Connor Dimaio from Sheffield United.

Bradford turned down a recent offer from Carlisle for Liddle, who made 76 appearances for the West Yorkshire club, scoring four goals, since arriving from Notts County on a free transfer in June 2014.

Liddle, who has featured 26 times for the Bantams this season, started out at Hartlepool where he made over 250 appearances before moving on to Notts County in 2012.

He told Chesterfield's official website: "I'm delighted to get it all sorted. I'm predominantly a midfielder but I can play at centre-back as well.

"The chance to work with the manager again really appealed to me and that was a major factor in my decision to sign because Danny is one of the best managers I've worked for. I know Ritchie Humphreys as well and he's told me about the club."

Spireites boss Danny Wilson said: "I've known Gary for the best part of 10 years. I took him from Middlesbrough to Hartlepool and he did well for us.
