Sheffield Wednesday have agreed a deal to sign Almen Abdi from Watford, according to Sky sources.

The Switzerland midfielder has passed a medical at Wednesday ahead of a transfer that will cost the Championship club around £4m.

Abdi, who has spent the past four seasons at Vicarage Road, is understood to have agreed a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old started 25 Premier League games last season but is set to become the latest departure of a busy summer at Watford.

Gabriele Angella, Miguel Layun and Joel Ekstrand are among the others to leave, while Isaac Success is the most expensive of five new signings.

Sky sources say the Hornets are interested in a sixth player, Lille's £15m-plus rated forward Sofiane Boufal.
