Dundee have sold striker Kane Hemmings to Oxford.

Hemmings has signed a three-year contract with the Sky Bet League One side after moving for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old former Rangers and Cowdenbeath player hit 25 goals in his first season on Tayside having returned to Scotland from Barnsley.

Oxford head coach Michael Appleton told his club's website: "He is the proven goalscorer that we've talked about and he enjoyed a fantastic season last year.

"There were a few clubs looking at him but we have talked to him, told him what we are about down here in Oxford and we are delighted to welcome him to the club."

The news will come as a severe blow to Dundee fans, who saw their team lose 2-1 at Peterhead in the Betfred Cup on Tuesday night, a defeat which all but ended their hopes of reaching the second round.
