Derby County sign Watford striker Matej Vydra for reported £8m

Derby County have completed the signing of Watford striker Matej Vydra on a four-year deal.

The 24-year-old is Derby's second attacking addition of the summer, joining Manchester United loanee James Wilson in making the move to the iPro Stadium.

Sky sources understand the Czech Republic international has cost the Rams a fee of £8m.

Vydra joined Watford last summer on a permanent deal after impressing in two separate loan spells from Udinese, but he spent most of the season on loan with Sky Bet Championship club Reading.

Rams boss Nigel Pearson said: "We're really pleased to sign Matej Vydra - we hope that he will bring goals and energy to the team.

"His ability to exploit space with his pace is good and something that we need, while his goals record is pretty healthy as well.

Without wanting to pile any pressure on him, coming into a new challenge here at Derby County, we hope that he can be the catalyst for us to start bringing some more positive results, which are obviously something that we need.
