Wigan Athletic have signed Adam Le Fondre on a season-long loan from Cardiff.

Le Fondre has only made 19 league appearances for Cardiff since joining on an undisclosed fee in 2014.

Over the last two seasons, the 29-year-old has found himself out of favour, and as a result has had loan spells at Bolton and Wolves.

The striker, whose contract expires next summer, has been available for transfer throughout the summer and was not selected to travel to Germany on Cardiff's pre-season tour.

Wigan manager Gary Caldwell will hope Le Fondre can replicate the goal-scoring form he has shown in recent loan spells, as he scored a combined total of 11 goals in 26 appearances during his time at Bolton and Wolves.

The Latics have had a stuttering start to their Sky Bet Championship campaign, as they currently sit in 20th place after only winning one game out of five.

Wigan further boosted their options up front with the addition of Kaiyne Woolery from Bolton for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old, who scored two goals in 19 league games for Bolton, signed a three-year deal.

"Kaiyne is someone we are really excited to bring to the club," added Caldwell.

"We have been looking at him for some time and been impressed by what we have seen. He is still young but has great potential. He has pace, an eye for goal and we are looking forward to being able to see him develop in a Wigan Athletic shirt."
