Watford forward Jerome Sinclair has joined Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season.

The Birmingham-born 20-year-old completed a medical on Tuesday and will link up with former Watford manager Gianfranco Zola at St Andrew's, who took over as Blues boss in December.

Zola confirmed his interest in the player on Monday, saying Sinclair was "the type of player that could certainly help us", and Birmingham have confirmed they have beaten off competition from fellow Sky Bet Championship clubs to complete a short-term deal for the former Liverpool player.

"I think it's a really good move for me," Sinclair told Birmingham's official website. "Hopefully I can come here and get a lot of game time and help the team progress and develop my game as well.

"I'm only 20 and I'm still developing as a young player, but hopefully this can be a real kick-on for me and I can score goals and help the team."

He added: "I think I'll learn a lot from Gianfranco Zola in terms of my game and helping me improve and any little tips I can pick up from him is only going to help me."

The winger moved to Watford from Liverpool in June last year having struggled to gain a regular first-team place at Anfield, penning a five-year deal at Vicarage Road.

However, Sinclair has made just seven appearances for Watford this season, two coming in the FA Cup, with the former England under-17 international scoring his only goal for the club in the third-round win over Burton Albion.

Sinclair was not signed in time to play in Birmingham's game against Reading on Tuesday night, but will be available to face Fulham on Saturday.
