Port Vale have announced the signing of experienced defender Antony Kay after his contract at Bury was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 34-year-old has agreed a two-year deal at Vale Park, where he links up with former Bury team-mates Tom Pope and Rob Lainton.

Kay joined Bury last summer on a free transfer after his contract at MK Dons expired. He was named captain and made 47 appearances, scoring one goal.

He told his new club's website: "I've come here for one reason only and that's to get promoted. I think as a club there's no reason why we can't get promoted next season."
