Carlisle boss Keith Curle has completed a double swoop for Kelvin Etuhu and Hallam Hope.

Former Manchester City midfielder Etuhu and striker Hope, who has represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 level, have both signed two-year deals at Brunton Park.

Speaking of Etuhu, who made 15 senior appearances for City earlier in his career, Curle told the club's official website, carlisleunited.co.uk: "He has the key attributes and the profile of a very good player, but he needs to bring all of it together through a number of full and successful seasons in a team that's doing well.

"We have some fantastic competition for places in the midfield area, and that's what we want down the whole spine of the team. Adding hungry and determined players like Kelvin will help to push us on to achieve that."

Curle revealed he has had 23-year-old Hope, who had a loan spell at Carlisle during the 2015-16 season, in his sights for some time.

He said: "Thinking about it, I've probably chased Hallam more than I've ever chased anyone else through my whole life - ex-wife, ex-partner and current girlfriend included!

"He's with us now and we're looking forward to working with him again. In my opinion, he's a player who can play in a much higher division than League Two."
