Goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray has completed a move to Shrewsbury after signing a one-year deal, the club has announced.

The 24-year-old was out of contract at Walsall, where he made just 26 appearances during a three-year stay.

MacGillivray impressed Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst when he played against his side last year, prompting him to make the swoop.

The keeper told the club's official website, www.shrewsburytown.com: "When I got the phone call from the gaffer showing his interest in me, it was an easy decision.

"It stuck in my mind when I played against Shrewsbury last season and, considering the position they were in last year, I was really impressed with the way they played. I thought they outplayed Walsall at times and I'm glad that I am here now."

Hurst was delighted to have got his man, and said: "He's someone that has got a good attitude, someone that looks after himself and then there's his ability.
