Northampton have signed teenage defender Regan Poole from Manchester United on a season-long loan.
Poole is reunited with Northampton manager Justin Edinburgh, who was in charge of Newport when the 19-year-old made his Football League bow.
"I gave him his debut as a 16-year-old and he's a player with a fantastic temperament and someone who is well ahead of his years," Edinburgh told the Cobblers' official website.
"He's a central defender who is comfortable on the ball. He's strong, leaps well and has all the attributes to be a top, top player."
Poole made 15 senior appearances for Newport before moving to Old Trafford in August 2015 for a six-figure fee and featured for United as a substitute in a Europa League win against Midtjylland in February 2016.
