Jacob Murphy's representatives are meeting with Norwich City on Thursday to see if they can ease through a deal to take him to Newcastle United, according to Sky sources.
The Premier League club saw an £8m bid rejected by Norwich this week for the winger last week but he remains determined to play in the Premier League.
Murphy scored 10 times for Norwich last season and was one of the standout performers for England at this summer's U21 European Championships in Poland.
Newcastle are expected to return with an improved offer, with manager Rafa Benitez keen to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Sky Sports News HQ understands Crystal Palace, Southampton, Swansea and West Bromwich Albion have previously shown an interest in Murphy.
The 22-year-old has previously spent time on loan at Swindon, Southend, Blackpool, Scunthorpe, Colchester and Coventry.
Murphy is contracted to Norwich until the summer of 2021 having signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal with the club in November.
