Russell Martin is set to have a medical at Rangers on Tuesday after a loan deal was agreed with Norwich City, Sky Sports News understands.
The 32-year-old Scotland international is club captain at Carrow Road, but has not played a first-team match since August.
Martin has been at Norwich since joining permanently in 2010 following a loan spell, and has made 284 appearances for the club.
Rangers have been busy in the January transfer window already, with Brighton winger Jamie Murphy and QPR midfielder Sean Goss having joined on loan.
Graeme Murty's side have been on a warm-weather training camp in Florida following their 0-0 draw with Celtic on December 30.
The club will return to action in the Scottish Cup fourth round when they play Fraserburgh on January 21, live on Sky Sports Football.
