Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy hopes to be able to further strengthen his squad ahead of the start of the Sky Bet Championship campaign.

The Tractor Boys were beaten by East Anglia rivals Norwich in last season's play-offs after finishing sixth, and have their sights set on another crack at promotion.

McCarthy has already moved to bring in the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from Arsenal and Brett Pitman from Bournemouth, who bought Town defender Tyrone Mings for £8million, while forward Daryl Murphy has signed a new two-year contract.

"We have got 15 or so hard-nosed professionals that I can hang my hat on and the two 'keepers as well, so I am happy with the squad, but we are looking to add two or three more players," McCarthy said to Ipswich Player.

"I am happier where I am now, going into this season than I was this time last year, but I would (still) like to add two or three new faces."
