Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman wants to bolster his squad with three more attacking players before the transfer window closes next week.

Freedman, working under strict constraints after the club breached Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, remains keen to do a deal with Paul Taylor, who continues to train with the Reds, while he is also targeting another forward and a striker.

A deal with Taylor depends on whether Stephen McLaughlin leaves the City Ground, with three clubs thought to be interested in signing the winger, freeing up another space in the 24-man squad Forest are allowed under FFP rules.

The transfer window shuts at 5pm on September 1 and Freedman expects his business to go right to the wire.

"We want to add to our attacking threat," he told the Nottingham Post. "We are after a forward and an inside forward or winger - both players who can add to our attacking threat.

"We need to bring more goals into the team and that can be difficult. But we will work as hard as is humanly possible to get this done and to get it right.

"Paul Taylor is still here and I want to do something with him - I definitely do. It is difficult with the spaces we have in the squad at the minute, but he is somebody I admire a lot. We will keep that situation private for now, but it may depend on other players moving out.

"The Stephen McLaughlin situation is related to that. He wants to play football and I don't see him playing regular football for Forest in the near future.

"There are a few players ahead of him when it comes to wingers and, defensively, we have Danny Fox and Danny Pinillos there.

"He is okay about it, Stephen; he understands it. I would be surprised if something does not happen next week, as there are three clubs in for him.

"He needs to get some league games under his belt; it would be the best thing for him. And, if he moves on, then we can look at the situation with Paul."

Freedman added: "I would love something to happen before next weekend. But, hand on heart, I can't honestly say it will - you know how the market works.

"There are one or two who we have our eye on. If they do not move out of their current clubs for money, they may well be made available for loan. The situation could go right up to the deadline. On deadline day, things could go right to the wire."
