The scout reports...

This week I turn my attention back to the English lower leagues and Huddersfield star Jordan Rhodes. The 21-year-old has hit the headlines in recent weeks after being handed his Scotland debut - a rare feat for a player from League One. Rhodes is a mobile yet equally powerful striker who is finding the back of the net with almost alarming regularity. At the moment he has chalked up 12 goals in 12 games for Huddersfield and is already being linked with a big-money move. His form for Huddersfield and Scotland Under-21s also saw him handed his maiden international call, featuring against Cyprus last week. Rhodes began his career with Barnsley, but as his goalkeeper father Andy was transferred to Ipswich from Oakwell, young Jordan followed his dad to Portman Road with Town paying a fee for the then 15-year-old. Rhodes progressed through the ranks in Suffolk and he made his senior debut in late 2007, before he enjoyed loan stints at Oxford, Rochdale and Brentford. It was during his time with Brentford that he shone with seven goals in 14 games and Huddersfield came calling in the summer of 2009 as he sealed a move to the Galpharm Stadium. Since his return to Yorkshire, Rhodes has shone with double figures in every season, and his progress is now attracting all sorts of attention including Manchester United - who are reported to have dispatched Paul Scholes to check on him as part of his new duties with the club. Rhodes, despite being English born, spent much of his childhood in Scotland, which saw him earn a call-up to the Under-21s and his brilliant form for Billy Stark's youngsters propelled him into the senior squad.

The scout says...

An excellent young forward, who you could easily liken to Alan Shearer, not over-reliant on pace but knows where the goal is and is thoroughly committed to becoming a success. Huddersfield are desperately trying to fend off interest, but big Premier League bids in the summer could force their hand.
