Latest under our scout's gaze is Celtic's James Forrest - recommended by Sky Sports reader Billy Morris.

The scout reports...

Describing him as being 'the light in the darkness' of Scottish football by the SFA's performance director Mark Wotte, we check on Celtic starlet James Forrest. Forrest has emerged in the last 18 months as one of the outstanding prospects in British football. A diminutive winger, Forrest's potential was spotted as early as the age of 11, playing locally in Prestwick and a host of clubs were chasing his signature. Despite interest from Kilmarnock, Ayr United and Rangers, it was Celtic who won the clamour to land him and, after he agreed to join the Hoops, he was dispatched to their Hamilton academy at the age of 13. At 17, and having starred for every age group for the club, he was handed a four-year contract by Celtic in 2009. Less than a year after becoming a professional he made his first-team debut for the club, and not long after he made his European bow in a UEFA Champions League qualifier. By January 2011 he had already emerged as a first-team regular and Celtic tied him down to a new five-year deal. In the summer of 2011 is was little surprise that Scotland came calling, and he was handed his first senior cap during the Carling Nations Cup tournament. However, like with any talented young players north of the border, it is little surprise that many Premier League clubs are already taking more than a passing interest in his development. Tottenham's interest was confirmed by Harry Redknapp late in the summer, but he admitted they would not be making a bid at that time. But just knowing Spurs are interested is an obvious sign of Forrest's potential, and what potential that is. Forrest is nothing if not exciting. He loves to beat players and is blessed with the skill to be able to do this without even thinking. Forrest's game is predominantly creating goals and causing danger in the last third, but he also has an eye for goal, highlighted by the fact he already has double figures to his name for Celtic.

The scout says...

His progress under Neil Lennon has been outstanding and he is one of the most exciting talents to emerge from Scotland in recent times. He would probably benefit from staying at Celtic for another 12 months at least and he is likely to get that wish, but a move to England looks like being when, rather than if.
