The latest player to be spotlighted is Ghana's Ebenezer Assifuah.
The scout reports...
Ebenezer Assifuah collected the Golden Boot at the Under-20 World Cup, so it is little surprise he caught our eye and is also now very much on the radar of a host of European clubs.
The 20-year-old, unlike many of the stand-out players in Turkey, will have been under the radar for many clubs, although he had already made his mark on the international stage.
After being drafted into the Ghana squad for the African Under-20 qualifiers, he helped them qualify for the event in Algeria earlier this year and he played a starring role, helping his team to the runners-up spot and finishing as the second top scorer in the event.
His form continued in Turkey, where he claimed six goals to take the Golden Boot as Ghana finished the competition in third.
Assifuah winning the award is a big deal. He is the second Ghana player in recent times to land it following on from Dominic Adiyiah, who claimed the honour in 2009 and off the back of that landed a move to AC Milan.
But with Adiyiah now playing in Ukraine for Arsenal Kiev after failing to adapt and battle his way through the ranks at Milan, the worry for many clubs will be that Assifuah might suffer the same issues.
However, Assifuah must be considered on his own merits and skills, which are clear.
Assifuah is full of pace and strength, and loves to shoot. In many ways, it would be a comparison to make with somebody like former Black Stars ace Tony Yeboah.
Assifuah is raw, and there is little doubting that - but as he has proved in the two tournaments he has featured in this season, he clearly has the temperament to do it on the big stage.
Arsenal, Udinese and FC Sion are now amongst the clubs keen on Assifua, who currently plays for Ghanaian giants Liberty Professionals. He joined them last year from Sekondi Eleven Wise.
He has two years left on his deal with Liberty - but the expectation is that he will now move on during the European transfer window.
The scout says...
Assifuah is a clearly a talent that needs nurturing, and it remains to be seen who will be ready to take a gamble on him - but the promise is there.
If he can get himself the right club, such as Arsenal where he would be allowed to mature, then he could emerge as a star of the future for Ghana.
