Season review
Norwich's return to the Premier League started with a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Carrow Road, but they hit back with early wins over Sunderland and Bournemouth. Just two defeats from their opening seven games suggested the Canaries had enough about them to compete in the top flight, but their form soon dipped.
A run of only one win from nine games between October and December left them in the relegation zone, although they did respond by producing the highlight of their season as they won 2-1 against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Aston Villa and Southampton were also beaten either side of New Year's Day to put Norwich six points clear of the bottom three, but their form nosedived after that - with their struggles in front of goal proving particularly costly.
Eight defeats from nine between January and March - including a heartbreaking 5-4 defeat to Liverpool at Carrow Road - left Alex Neil's men in deep trouble, and even consecutive wins over West Brom and Newcastle couldn't save them.
The Canaries lost four consecutive games to Palace, Sunderland, Arsenal and Manchester United after that, and their relegation was confirmed with Sunderland's 3-0 win over Everton on May 11.

I think it was always going to be difficult for them and the biggest thing for them was not having a regular goalscorer.

"The good thing about Norwich is they tend to bounce back and I'd expect them to be challenging to come straight back up next season. I hope they give the manager Alex Neil the chance to do that because I think he'll have learned a lot from this season as a young manager."
