It's a highly-prized accolade - and with only 11 spots up for grabs La Liga's team of the season was always going to cause heated debate.
The rows may not have subsided but Guillem Balague, Graham Hunter and Gerry Armstrong have now selected their definitive starting XI for the year.
Gerry said: "We will never agree on that team because there are always areas of argument! That's what it's all about - opinions.
"We were just arguing then about playing Ramos as a centre-back - he hasn't played there for a long time and a lot of great players have been left out of the squad as well."
So who would win a match between the Premier League team of the year and it's La Liga equivalent? Graham Hunter is in no doubt!
"This is a team to win the World Cup," he said. "but I'd have Mata out, brought David Villa in for Forlan and had Pepe instead of Ramos.
Ramos has had a bad defensive season; Pepe is an erratic guy but is learning all the time thanks to Cannavaro. Other than that it's a team to take on the world."
Guillem Balague said it would be tough for anyone to break into the team next season, although much will depend on any big-name summer transfers.
"Silva, if he goes to Real Madrid, will be someone who is very important to them," he said. "Maybe Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ribery might feature as well?"
So have the Revista team called it right or are they way off-target? Fill out the form below to have your say on who should be in, who shouldn't and who could make next year's team.

Diego Forlan, is rightly in there he has been absoulutely superb. many of his goals have been out the top draw. so the people saying villa for forlan... just watch the spanish league first before giving your opinion.... forlan scored 32 league goals in 33 matches, that is world class.

To be a total team the midfield would need a holding midfielder, maybe lassana diarra or preferably yaya toure. I wouldnt have capdevila in my team either but to be honest there isnt anybody else to take his place. I agree with Graham about having Pepe at centre back instead of ramos. and henry instead of forlan because of his work rate. Im not too sure about dani alves at right back but i suppose he stands out for his attacking abilities

Guillem, I have to disagree with a couple of selections for the la liga team, Firstly Jesus Navas deserves to be in the midfield over Mata, Navas has been Sevilla's best player this year, and prolific in the assists chart. I also think that Sevilla's defensive record has been taken into account this year? With only conceeding 39, the 2nd best in la liga, I feel that Palop (Goalkeeper), Squillaci (Centre Defence and Fernando Navarro (Left-back) are more fitting selections based on results. I am suprised that no Sevilla player has featured in the selection, based on 3rd place finish, and reaching the semi's of the Coppa, on the basis that year-on-year it finishes highly after selling the likes of Ramos, Alves, Baptista, Reyes, Keita and Co etc. Vamos Roji-blancos! Im still not sure how Ramos got into the team, he has played right back this year, and been very dodgy in defence, being taught a lesson everytime he faces a top team. Also i think Eto'o has missed far too many chances and needs to be replaced with Villa, and i agree with a previous comment that if Higuain had been playing for Barcelona then he probbaly would of been the leagues top scorer. I also think jesus navas should be in the team at the expense of Mata, even though Navas plays on the right wing predominantly.

There is someone that everybody gorgets, and is Rafael Marquez, that should be instead of Ramos or even Pique, he has the best exit from the defense towards midfield and up in the league, and gives a lot of security in the back. Instead of Mata I would move Iniesta to the left side where he naturally plays and put in the middle Marcos Senna to help in the comtention.

Abhinav Subramani (Real Madrid fan) says...
I feel that Casillas should be in goal. He is better than Diego Lopez any day he has had a very shaky defense in front of him. Also instead of Ramos as center half i would have Pepe or Squillaci. What about a holding midfielder, some one like Yaya Toure or Lassana Diarra, with Xavi and Iniesta playing in front on him like the present Barcelona system. Messi on right wing is unquestionable anyone who doubts that is out of their mind. Eto has missed chance after chance in many games and lost the golden boot because of it villa is a more clinical finisher and should play center forward. Mata just clinches the left wing above Henry and Robben
