West Ham joint-chairman David Gold is in positive mood ahead of the new season and says the club will be going all out to celebrate their final campaign at Upton Park.

The Hammers move to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford in time for the start of the 2016/17 season and the club are planning to commemorate their time at the Boleyn Ground, their home since 1904.

“We’ll have events at most games remembering our heroes,” Gold told 92Live.

“Against Leicester (for the opening home game on August 15) it’s going to be a claret and blue day and it’s really a celebration of the history of our football club.

“We are very optimistic and I believe we have a better squad of players than we had last season and we are not finished yet.

“We finished 12th but at Christmas we were sitting in fourth place, so I am optimistic and the fans are optimistic.

“Slaven (Bilic) is a passionate manager and already the fans are warming towards him. Collectively I think we will have a good season.”
