West Brom's Saido Berahino in contention to play against Stoke

Saido Berahino has scored 19 goals in 72 appearances for West Brom

West Brom first-team coach Gerry Francis says Saido Berahino is available for selection for Saturday's fixture at Stoke.

The 22-year-old striker was left out on Tuesday as Albion edged out Port Vale 5-3 on penalties in the Capital One Cup following a forgettable 0-0 draw after extra-time at The Hawthorns.

The England U21 striker, who also missed Sunday's 3-2 home defeat to Chelsea, has been the subject of two separate bids from Tottenham - the latest understood to total £21m with clauses and instalments - both of which have been rejected.

Francis, who joined West Brom in a coaching role in January, admits that the ongoing saga is frustrating but remains confident of keeping Berahino at the club this season.

"It's unsettling, it's not something that's unique - lots of clubs have situations like this but it is unsettling when our star striker hasn't played for the last two games," Francis told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He's a great young talent and he's very important for us, so it would be great to see him playing.

"There's things going on in the young man's head at the moment and Tony [Pulis] doesn't feel as though he's been in the right frame of mind but that's not to say he won't be playing at the weekend.

"Players are used to things going on but you want your best players out on the pitch. It would be nice to be settled; hopefully it will in the next few days."

Time is now running out for West Brom to find a replacement striker, if Berahino does leave for White Hart Lane before the end of the transfer window.

"It is a concern," admitted Francis.

"We do need to bring a few more people in before the deadline. If Saido's going to be here that's great, if not then obviously we'll need to be looking to a replacement. Making that all work out just how you want it is difficult sometimes.

"He's our player and he's had a little period with this situation now. I think Tony's given him a period for getting his mind cleared but you don't know what's going to happen from day to day. Certainly he's our player and he's available [for Saturday]."
