Who can afford Falcao?

The Revista panel had some big news on the future of Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao who could be heading for pastures new.

Atletico only sit behind table-toppers Barcelona on goal difference after an unbeaten start to the campaign and many point to Falcao as the man who has got them there.

"He is a fantastic player," said former Barcelona full-back Albert Ferrer.

"When he is competing with Messi and Ronaldo in terms of goals and numbers then that tells you that he is fantastic - and he is playing in a team that creates less chances than Real Madrid and Barcelona, so in a way he has to be better."

Deep pockets

His eight goals this season have caught the interest of some big hitters -including Manchester City and while Atletico Madrid say that he is not for sale this season, they have put a price on him saying he is worth 60 million euros.

However, despite Roberto Mancini watching Falcao guide Atletico to a 2-1 win over Malaga, Guillem Balague says there is only one team who can afford him

"There seems to one club who are definitely going to put €60 million up for Falcao and that is Paris St Germain," said Balague on Revista.

"They think they can get him but they have to convince him that their project is big enough. If they do so then they will put the €60 million on the table to Atletico Madrid and take him in January - they are the only ones who seem able to do that.

"But Atletico Madrid are insisting that he is not for sale this year and he will stay for the rest of the season."

PSG are now one of the world's wealthiest clubs following their take over by Qatar Investment Authority in 2011 and Guillem explained the reasons for the recent story linking the French side with Cristiano Ronaldo.

"L'Equipe published a story that PSG were going for Ronaldo - when they do that then there is usually something in it," he said.

"I found out that it is actually meetings between the agent of Ronaldo and PSG, but what is Ronaldo after? A new contract at Real Madrid.

"So these stories kind of help."
