Atletico Madrid hotshot Diego Costa will be fit to play for Spain at the World Cup, Guillem Balague told the La Liga Weekly podcast.
The Brazilian-born striker limped off injured in the Champions League final but Balague told Jon Driscoll and Terry Gibson he will recover in time to take a starring role for La Roja.
"The good news, as we speak, is that after going for a second test the doctors of the federation are very happy and feel that he will be part of the 23 that will travel to Brazil," Balague said.
"Diego Costa is the man. He will be very important even if he doesn't play every game, even if he doesn't start. He will be in training making sure that everybody is at their best and that's why Vicente Del Bosque wants to bring him. Not so much for the goals he brings, but for the attitude.
"Do you know where the hunger is going to come from? Do you know where the eyes of wanting glory and pushing everyone? Diego Costa. He's really crucial to what's going to happen for Spain."
In a World Cup special La Liga Weekly podcast Balague, Gibson and Driscoll also discuss Spain's chances of victory in Brazil, the squad's latest fitness concerns and the future of veteran Xavi Hernandez.
