Sebastien Bassong told Soccer AM he's certain Norwich will secure Premier League survival this season.

"We haven't been on a great run for ten games now and we're having a tough time but we'll bounce back and we'll be safe."

Quotes of the week

The Canaries are currently six points clear of the drop zone and, despite failing to win their last nine, the Norwich defender is convinced they'll still be in the top flight next season.

"We've had a great season so far at Norwich and I think we'll be ok," said the Cameroon international.

"We've got a really good team and a squad of good quality. We haven't been on a great run for ten games now and we're having a tough time but we'll bounce back and we'll be safe."

Bassong has not only been providing rear-guard action for Norwich this season, he's also weighed in with three goals for the club - and he told Helen and Max he just loves sticking the ball in the net.

"I've scored a couple of goals this season and it feels great to score because, you know, sometimes it's a bit boring at the back," he joked.

"When you get up front and you score goals you're happy about it. If I was asked to play up front I would do it. I'd get tired quick as you have to make different runs, but if I could score I'd be so delighted and tell the boss you've got to put me up front every week!"

The defender also gave us his take on:

The best strikers in the Premier League

There are a few who are really busy who when you play against them you think 'it's going to be tiring today'. Luis Suarez is one, Andy Carroll is a beast, Robin van Persie...I can name a lot.

Former Spurs team-mate Gareth Bale

I went to watch them play Lyon in the Europa League the other night and Gareth Bale is definitely worth £50m. He's got everything. He's improved a lot in the last few years and he's a top class player. As a defender he's going to take you on many times and he might succeed a few times because he's got pace, skill...but you just have to try and be on your best game and not give him too much space. But when he's got that quality it's hard.

Norwich's FA Cup exit to non-league Luton

If you look at the team sheet you think 'we should win this game' because we're in a higher league and we're meant to be better. But in the FA Cup you never know. That's the magic of the FA Cup. We deserved to lose. Luton played their game of the year, they put a good shift in and really battled. They were really tight to each other and as the game was going on I was watching and thinking we are struggling.
