Roman Reigns feels he is a "grey area guy" and already has plenty of qualities to make him a heel character.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Reigns was asked about recent suggestions from WWE legend "Stone Cold" Steve Austin that he should be made into a fully-fledged villain.
"With Roman, for him to have the biggest run possible - and there's still work to do on his end to make it work - they have to turn him heel and let him just let loose," said Austin.
Reigns continues to receive heavily-mixed reactions from the arena crowds, with younger fans supporting the three-time world champion and older fans showing their disdain with boos.
But he does not feel it is necessary for his character to go one way or the other, but instead continue to occupy a middle ground.
"It's a weird question because aren't I already a heel?" Reigns said. "If I garner that reaction, then what's the point? If I'm already being booed, why try to get booed?
"So right now I'm in a cool situation which is very different to everybody because the only person that has ever been in my shoes before is (John) Cena. But Cena's Cena. I'm nothing like him and I've never been like him.
"We tried to have similarities early on but it clearly didn't work and I had to find my own path, and walk it and talk it the way I do.
"I have a great opportunity because I am a grey area guy. I can be a little bit of everything. If I do sound or act a little bit heelish, I may not be a heel, I may just have a little more swag that day.
"So I feel I'm in a good place to do what I want to do with this character instead of just being a heel or a babyface."
