WWE tag team specialist Jeff Hardy is set to be out for a few months after injuring his shoulder.
The 40-year old needs surgery after tearing his rotator cuff in a match on last week's RAW.
Hardy will have the operation on October 3 in a procedure that usually keeps sports entertainers out for up to six months.
"It's depressing," Hardy told WWE.com. "More than any time in a career, it's those times that make you go, 'Wow, I love professional wrestling.'"
The veteran, who returned to WWE at WrestleMania back in April, fears doctors may find more damage to his shoulder when he goes under the knife.
"Once they get in there, they'll figure out more about what they have to repair. But for sure, the rotator cuff has to be repaired, and then they'll look at the labrum when they get in there."
Hardy insists he won't be away from TV for too long, hinting at another on-screen role while recovering from injury.
"There's a lot of crazy ideas. It inspires me to think a lot more about what I can do other than the extreme stunts and still be entertaining."
