Shinsuke Nakamura made his presence felt in Sami Zayn's match against Randy Orton on SmackDown.
Kevin Owens had escaped the handcuffs at ringside to join his friend in their two-against-one beatdown of Orton in a no-disqualification main event.
Nakamura then joined forces with the Viper to help him get a win over Zayn when he turned an attempted Helluva Kick into a roll-up.
As a result, Shane McMahon confirmed Nakamura will be Orton's partner for a tag team match with Owens and Zayn at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view later this month.
The prospect of Nakamura facing Zayn is a mouthwatering one to anyone familiar with the matches they had in NXT.
The pair had a match-of-the-year contender at Takeover:Dallas in April 2016 which was characterised by strong strikes from both opponents.
Nakamura has been quiet on WWE television in recent weeks, but Owens and Zayn have been involved in main event matches with Orton in successive weeks, and delivered high-quality contests on both occasions.
