One of my favourtie memories of Tommy was after meeting him in at Celtic Park, a family with two little boys kitted out in full Rangers strip's appraoched Tommy for an auotgraph and a photgraph and Tommy was more than willing and spent a good 5 mintutes chatting to the boys about football. It struck me then how Tommy loved Celtic but was a true gentleman to all football fans regardless of their team. "They never die who live in the hearts they leave behind" You'll Never Walk Alone Tommy. Enjoy the great game in the sky with Phil, Jinky and Cooper. RIP and my heartfelt thoughts to his family

The sad passing of a much respected professional like Tommy Burns provides a clear example of what we, as football fans, have in common rather than what divides us. It takes someone with the calibre and character of Tommy Burns to remind us of the true values of the game which we sometimes sadly forget. He seemed to me to be an honest, decent, dedicated and talented professional who loved the game. He undertook everything he did with passion and courage and dignity. Football has suffered a great loss but not as much as his family who must be so proud of his achievements. My thoughts are with them and I am sorry for their loss. I hope they take some comfort from the words which are being written here by those who have taken the time to write a few words of tribute.

Shocked and very saddenned at the news of Tommy Burns a true gentleman and decent man who deeply loved Celtic Football Club. He was a unique Human Being who inspired friendly rivalry between Celtic and Rangers just by the way he conducted himself. A true gentleman who will be sadly missed not only by his family and many friends but the entire football community. For Celtic Football Club the passing of Phil O'Donnell and now Tommy Burns within the last 6months must be very sad for the Club. As a life long Rangers Fan I know that many of the Rangers Fans will share the same level of grief as our greatest rivals. Heartfelt sympathies to his wife Rosemary, his family and friends. I went to Celtic Park with my grandad and a friend of the family Des O'Neil, the then editor of the Celtic View. We met the players and went round the ground and ever since I have been an avid Celtic fan. I had the priviledge of meeting Tommy when I worked at Celtic and he was one of the most pleasant down to earth men I have ever met, he broke the mould as they say. I send my best wishes to his family at this sad time. Rest in peace and God bless Tommy, you will always be one of the Bhoys.

Sad news about Tommy Burns today. Only met him once when I was a youngster but watched him playing as I was growing up and always played the game the way it should be. A true gentleman off and on the park and a pleasure to watch. My wee lad celebrates his 4th birthday today and if he turns out to be half the man Tommy was, I will be so happy. I will leave with this message which hails the man as a player and was the name of his book and will remain in our history and hearts forever - "He twists, he turns, he was Tommy Burns" RIP Tommy

Congratulations to Rangers on their decision not to parade around the outskirts of Ibrox due to the death of Tommy Burns A decision which shows a lot of class and respect on Rangers behalf.

Tommy was a legend. Someone the entire footballing world respected along with many other sports men and women. I was lucky enough too go on a junior coaching course that Tommy set up for the juniors who supported Celtic football club. The man had nothing but praise, helpful hints and just a helping hand too everyone who was there. He's given me along with many other fans many happy memories. Best wishes too Tommy's family and RIP. You'll Never Walk Alone Tommy.

I am working away in the middle of the North sea and I have just heard the very sad news that one of the great Celtic legends has passed away. A lot of players come and go through the football club but not many likes of Tommy Burns. He was known as one of those true Celtic people who's love for the club was there for all to see. Thoughts go out to Tommy's family and close friends at this time. Tommy twists - Tommy turns - Tommy Burns - Hail, Hail RIP.

Sad to hear of the passing of Tommy Burns. Why is is it always the decent people in life.My abiding memory of Tommy was at Ibrox. The players were warming up as the ball rolled towards the Copland Road end i was sitting in.He got his usual reception from the Rangers support but as he approached the ball,he sped up as if to kick the ball square at the Rangers end, then back-heeled it.The front rows of Copland Road all ducked.Funny.Class act and will be a loss to football. All my thoughts are with his family.RIP Mr Burns

Tommy Burns was a true gentleman & a Celtic Legend who I had the privilege to meet, the type of guy who would stand outside the doors of Parkhead & sign autographs all day for the fans, that's how much he loved he club. He was a great player & we played the best football since Jock Stein's era under Tommy's management in the mid 90's which gave the club back it's pride which I will never forget. My thoughts go out to Tommy's family at this time, you will always be in our memory. RIP Tommy x.

Probably the most gifted midfielder Celtic have produced. I had the honour of watching Tommy "grow up" and become established as a Celtic legend from when he exploded on to the scene against Rangers in 1975. He wore the shirt with pride and passion: Celtic was his love. Later on he became an excellent ambassador for the Club as well as a fine manager, with Celtic playing some of the most beautiful flowing football ever, under his tutelage. Tommy would be in my greatest Celtic team of all-time, runing the midfield. He has been taken too early! R.I.P Tommy. God Bless you and your family.

I'm sure every fan of the game who ever saw how Tommy played the game knows that soccer will be worse off for the loss of Tommy Burns. Celtic fans the world over will always remember TB as one of the best footballers ever to have graced the game and was never given the recognition by his country that his skills and talents really deserved. My condolences to his family.RIP Tommy, you'll never walk alone.

As a Rangers fan but most of all a football fan I must say that Mr Burns conducted himself as a true proffesional throughout his life in football and I doubt if there can ever be a more committed Celtic man, the club flowed through his blood. Very sad news. Tommy Burns was one of my heros when I was a kid and for me I will always remember him as one of the major components in a Celtic football team that can only be described as passionate and full of pride which had a lot to do with growing up in Glasgow and being fully aware of what it meant to walk out onto the pitch wearing the hoops. One of Scotlands football giants and a gentleman too. I'm sure everyone who is aware of Tommy and what his legacy is will be be saddened no matter what team they support. This is a time when all barriers should fall and we remember Tommy for being a great man and for his tireless efforts on and off the pitch. An immeasurable loss. REST IN PEACE.
