Adebayor's a talent but he's not what Arsenal need, they need to invest in a player like David Villa or they could of at least put a bid in for Karim Benzema but he's gone. Ade will be a good signing for City tho, they've needed a target man for some time now and with Tevez apparently on his way i think City will be challenging for the 'top 4' this season.

John Halton (Liverpool fan) says...

To be honest what has Adebayor ever really given to Arsenal? The answer is really "Nothing". He appears to believe that he is a "legend in his own mind". If Arsenal can make a killing and bring in a quality player to compliment Fabregas, Van Persie and Arshavin then they may well be a serious threat next season. All Arsenal fans are are used to players of the quality of Henry and Bergkamp. Adebayor is a poor relation when you consider the quality of these two previous players. May seem a strange argument from LFC fan but I'm sure supporters of all clubs have always admired the type of football that Wenger has tried to get his teams to play. No matter who Arsenal sign if Adebayor is still there next season then he will only stagnate the team.

Adebayor is ok, but not great and he is annoying to say the least for all Arsenal fans! We need people who love to wear the shirt and regardless of how many times players say it, we need to see it both on and off the pitch, especially during the transfer window. Adebayor was great the season before last but even then, if you look at how many chances he had, he still didn't take as many as a world class striker should (when compared with Torres, Villa, Henry etc) and when Milan came knocking and £30 million was rumoured to be offered, we should have cashed in and cheekily looked at Aguero, Villa or Benzema but now it's too late as Real have blown the market open and Man City are also throwing money around like its going out of fashion, and people say there's a recession?! We need to replace before selling anyone and hopefully Arsene has realised this after letting Hleb and Flamini go before geting someone in, (we still urgently need a strong defensive midfielder.) Let Adebayor go if he wants but make sure we get someone class in quickly, who will compliment RVP and Eduardo, as both are quality strikers and this season is gonna be all about RVP, Arshavin and Walcott.

I think Arsenal can do without Adebayo for sure. He should have been allowed to go to AC Millan when the ovation was stillvery loud for him. He was outstanding 2 seasons ago simply because he played in front of a midfield that was probably the best in the world. With a better chance to goal conversion rate, he will have banged in at least 40 goals. Arsenal will definitely be fine without him as long as Van Persie is fit, but he needs a very good player to complement him upfront.

Best transfer rumour of the summer!!! This really does prove that City havent got a clue what they're doing in the transfer market! We'll take £25m and go spend it elsewhere. We've got plenty of strikers and goalscoring midfielders already. Use the money to sign Melo and bring in a cheaper striker to nurture for the future. RvP and Eduardo up front next season with Arshavin, Nasri, Walcott and Rosicky(?!!) to supply the assists. Can't wait for next season!!!

Great news, can't wait for this to happen.

Cathal O'neill (Arsenal fan) says...

Hopefully Adebayor will be playing for Citeh next season. We will be getting a lot of money for a inconsistent player. Then hopefully Wenger will spend the money on a real superstar like David Villa, Aguero or some other top class striker.

I hope this goes through and then we can sign Inler and Chamahk. Adebayor has been whack and his performance against United in the Champions League was the final nail in the coffin !!

Rick Hincks (Manchester City fan) says...

Personally think it's a good move. He's experienced and definitely a proven goal scorer in the PL. If he's lazy and disloyal then Hughes can easily stick him on the bench as we can replace him with another proven goal scorer like Tevez / Santa Cruz / Bellamy. Yes we will have a lot of high profile strikers, and no they can't all play at once, but that's how you become successful. There's no point in only having 1 class player for each position, you always need replacements. Just look at United in the Treble winning season - 4 quality strikers. I say, if he wants to come, bring him in. Great asset to have, another great header of the ball. Just what we need. And he's still only 25.

Barry Parrett (Arsenal fan) says...

Adebayor has never really shown commitment to the Gunners and last season made very little effort on the pitch (compare his chasing and tackling to Drogba's).I hope Wenger gets a great price for him and has someone waiting to sign for us. We need someone who is tall, strong and is a good and brave header of the ball. I hope that Eduardo is fit and back to his best and gets the strike partner he deserves(which isn't Bendtner!)

Ronan Miskimmin (Manchester City fan) says...

Please say it isn't so. He looked uninterested all last season. Is that what we really need another player who will not perform for extravegant wages. Please let this be yet another crazy transfer rumour. Could we not please sign Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Keane, Dean Asthon, etc. Somebody else, please Mark Hughes do not do this.

Liam Thornhill (Arsenal fan) says...

To be honest Ade really didn't pull his weight last season and I think quite a lot of gooners have been questioning his commitment. If we can get a half decent replacement (and I'm sure Arsene could for £30m) and Eduardo stays fit, it really won't affect us that much. The key area is still defence and midfield. If we can get Bassong and Melo we'll be ok I reckon!

Jonthan Conan-davies (Arsenal fan) says...

This is a good move for Manchester City; because of other players becoming star-struck by the powers of Real Madrid, it's become even harder to secure players. I think he'll do well for Man City, doubling up with Tevez they could be strong this season. As an Arsenal Fan though I'm glad to get rid of him; we've got top quality strikers with Eduardo and Van Persie, as well as the youth of Vela. More cash to add to the piggy bank; just think Wenger should loosen his pocket a bit.

Jon Kane (Arsenal fan) says...

Let him go as long as its for 25m +.His heart is in his Bank balance so City will suit him down to the ground. Will he get a game there is all their signings come off.People forget Eduardo and Van Persie are quality.Vela is coming along nicely and Theo will eventually be a centre forward.Let him have the money.

Shane T (Arsenal fan) says...

I can't believe Arsene Wenger would let Adebayor leave he's one of our best players and we'll do muck without him next season. I wouldn't mind seeing him go if we were to get a top quality replacement but knowing Wenger he would probably bring in a 13 year old French kid.

Ha ha... I'm not sure if I should be laughing. Adebayor is one of the best target men in the business on his day. He got into trouble with the fans with his big mouth - and not necessarily because he had a poor season. If he leaves, I'll like a good replacement. If he stays, he'll need to keep his mouth shut, work hard and show the fans that he wants to stay. Score a few more good goals in the big games and we'll be singing his name again.

Kevin Bradshaw (Arsenal fan) says...

Depending on what we get for him this is great news! anything over 25 million is a serious result. We havent seen the likes of such a disinterested gunner since the days of Le Sulk.. Some one should point out to Ade that Anelka has stated, on numerous occassions, that leaving the gunners was a big mistake. I think we are already good to go in his position, so here's hoping we sign the defender and midfielder that we need to really make the gunners a serious threat next season.. Mark my words, the gunners are going to surprise a few people next season.

If man city end up with Adebayor and Tevez there going to be lot of unhappy strikers sitin on the bench cant play them all at the same time can they

Jamie Arnold (Arsenal fan) says...

I believe if Adebayor wants to go we should let him. After rumors and speculation linking Adebayor with AC Milan, Chelsea and now Manchester City then it is clear he has instructed his agent he wants to move and that his heart is not with the Arsenal. With the teams Adebayor is linked with it seems odd that they appear to be the ones with all the Money.
