I glad that Fergie has come out and told the fans. I think we will get good money for him, so let him go, his form has dipped big time, he is very injury prone. I would take 30m and higuain. He won''''t go to city

I''''m clearly biased, but why is nobody questioning the club''''s ambition (shown by limited investment), the manager likely retiring soon, the reliance on aging players, and the debt that''''s starting to cripple the club? Rooney probably asked these questions and there were no answers. I''''m not saying the "boy" is right, just that there''''s likely a lot more to this than money. I''''m not sure City need or want him now either.

how does anyone think loyalty plays a part? loyal to a team that now sells its best players, does not compete in the transfer market for quality signings, is hundreads of millions in debt? Be honest Giggs, Scholes etc great players but would anyone be lining up to sign them now? Chelsea, Real? not a chance bolton etc maybe but the team looks weak the subs bench weaker! keep Berbatov let Tevez go SERIOUSLY?. United are dead and buried at the moment and need a liverpool style takeover, loyalty would be the fans boycotting the club untill this happens and doing whats best for the club sorry but fegie is past his best too he would not have put up with the glazers in years past he has his hands tied. It maybe greed it may be running away but be honest you cant blame him. dont think its all in the public eye yet Real wouldnt exactly be peace and quiet look at ronaldo and the lady boys and becks and rebecca loo''''s its just as bad there if its is a football decision good luck to him something needs to happen at united the worlds biggest club is sliding fast.

I think he''''s looking at Man City and looking at Yaya Toure''''s 220k a week wages and hes thinking, im one of the best players in this league, why arent i earning that? I genuinely feel sorry for fergie as he has looked after him etc. but at the end of the day united have fallen behind and cant compete with city''''s money. It''''s all down to the modern day footballer being greedy... again.

I can already predict what rooney and his advisers will say in response to SAF assertions "that lack of investment in the club and not being able to hold on to star names such as Ronaldo and Tevez as being his reasons to want to leave".

I say if Rooney wants to go let him. fergies been around the block many a time!! Roooney should no better He didnt hesitate in getting rid of Stam, Beckham or Keane so why should rooney get any different. United have hernandez and Berbatovs finally startin to show his talent. All the best Rooney

Can,t beleive no one can see this for what it is! Fergie wants him out and fergie gets what he wants. This has been totally manufactered by SAF full stop.

I really don''''t think this is about money more to the fact that Fergie has come down on Rooney like a ton of bricks over his personal life. If he''''s running from the press can''''t see him staying in this country and suspect he''''ll head over to either spain or italy, possibly on loan to a non champions league side? As for joining city I don''''t think he''''ll get a regular start to be perfectly honest and think he''''d have a major battle with Ballotelli (when fit). If on the outset utd are short on strikers in January I''''m quite sure abedeyor will be available on a free...

I hate watching good players leave our shores for a lesser league imo, the spanish primera have nothing on the premier league for action or pacem the fact we have 5-6 teams in the mix each year is superb for any avid fan of football. That being said i think this has more to it then meets the eys, i think its stemming more from his recent problems with coleen and her basically saying if this is going to work we need a fresh start away from manchester where it all happened. If this is the case then yes his marriage and family should come first but lest we not forget its his own stupid actions which have probably caused this confrontation.

Real Madrid is definitely where he is going to go..it will be somesort of swap with Benzema and Maybe about 20m for Rooney....I cant see him going elsewhere. Imagine if he went to Man City or Liverpool Arsenal anyone? Or is he trying to get more money into his contract?

how funny is that, the so called biggest club in the world cant keep hold of its biggest player yet again. 1 less player, 1 less intrest payment

I do not really care where Rooney goes have never rated him world class and as long as Fergie gets the money to spend on a proper striker and it does not go towards the debts i will be more than happy. Also hope he goes to City as that will bugger Tevez up as they are to alike. also to all the City fans who think it will be another coup like Tevez forget it as Tevez never belonged to us anyway and was only on loan.

First of all I would like to congratulate the British Tabloids for their hand in forcing one of the finest brtish players on the planet out of their country. Anyone who thinks Rooney is going anywhere other than abroad is off their rocker.. he is bound for anywhere other than england... Everytime we pick up a paper the stories we read are of this footballer sleeping with this girl and that girl, cheating on their wife etc.. their kids all over the front pages... their names dragged through the mud every time england fail to win a game... their kids bullied in schools.... NO PRIVACY!!! Rooney has been forced to look for a fresh start.. not for footballing reasons.. for privacy.. ashley cole will be next with more to follow shortly afterwards... The second the news broke of his cheating I knew this would be the course of action taken... well played tabloids.. who will you force out next with your medling while us FOOTBALL not SOAP fans suffer the consequences...

The naivety of some people is astounding.... football has been about the cash for years now. Remember Soccer AM''''s boot room and Alan SMith? Q - Alan is there a team you would never play for? A - *smirk* The reds! i.e United... just a few short months later he jumped ship and ran off to kiss fergies rear when offered a boot full of cash. I feel for the United fans a little bit as he has become a little bit iconic, but not based on recent performances for sure. But as usual Fergie will bring in someone else and they will carry on with business as usual till the next headline kicks off.....

Oh dear Oh dear haha maybe there''''s not enuff nice lookin grannies in Salford. Maybe he''''s had enuff of all the anti-Scouse songs maybe he realises its a sinking ship with £750 million worth of debt and owners who r skint and fleecing the club for everything and won t leave no matter how many Norwich scarves are bought. A manager whose nearing retirement and too much of a bottler to say anything against the owners. First Ronaldo now Rooney GIggs and Scholes nearing retirement Oh Dear Oh Dear HaHa

Why are so many fans always shocked when a player moves for money? How many times does it have to happen before you realise that''''s what they do! They play football to make lots of money! But please!! Don''''t let him come to the blue half of Manchester. We''''re doing okay at the moment, and we certainly don''''t need him or his baggage at the moment! Though I fear for the worse on this :-(
