sorry for newcastle fans about losing carroll , do you think carroll put in a transfer request. well from ashelys history over money ,i think he would have been down carrolls ear telling him what great chance for him to go to a club with a great history while thinking thats another thirty m... have got out of the club then spend 5m.. on an average player and i bet the players price is not reveald .just milking newcastle before he sells

What a complete last minute mash up, I am shocked Torres is going to the blues and amazed at the poor management that Liverpile still have. Anyone coming from the Dutch league besides the United greats have turned out to be mediocre at best, Suarez must impress quickly. Carroll? Hahhaa, I cannot believe the amount of money for this guy. United are sitting nice and comfy with our young Mexican striker, whom didn't cost a fraction of what Carroll did. Lets see him produce like Chicharito.

Great signing but risky taking into account the amount of money we've given for him don't want him to be another robbie keane or aquilani Still a good replacement for torres no player is more important than the club torres was and always will be a world class player but he wont be missed

I have to say I am delighted with the intent shown by NSV to spend money and replace Torres. But when you look close Babel (6m) and Torres (50m) we spent 57m so 1m is all that we spent. What happed to the Charlie Adam bid. I think Kenny will improve a very young Carroll so I would not rush to judgement on him not being a good signing. I would rate him as an apprentice Drogba. Be patient, Kenny is at the helm so show some faith!

Logic Speaks (Liverpool fan) says...

Absolutely ridiculous! £35million!!!! way over the top. Damion Comolli is supposed to be targetting potential targets continuously. Liverpool should not be reinvesting in panic buys. The only thing that supports this purchase is that he is English and will therefore fill the homebased quota. He better succeed for Liverpool's sake otherwise we'll be broke and without any talent. This is just an attempt to improve our Robbie Keane transfer. Ferguson will be in hysterics. He sits there with Hernandez who cost 7 times less than Carrol.

What's up with all the united fans? Don't you have any money of your own to spend so you're all worrying about ours? Well see how much he isn't worth it when he knocks a couple past you. Mind your own business...

As a Liverpool fan I have to say that Andy Carroll would be a fantastic addition to the re-building phase at Anfield. I still would not want torres to leave, as to be able to challenge for top honours, we do need depth. Surauez, Torres and Carroll would be a fearsome strike force with gerarrd, merelies Adams (hopefully) young too. 1 Player i would love to see at anfield is Adam Johnson. He is exactly what we need, left sided fast energetic and exciting!!

So we buy a injured player for 35mill, i thought we learnt a lesson after the aquilani deal, but with liverpool obviously we haven't

Carrol should stay at Newcastle and not let money rule over where his hart really is. He is from Newcastle and only a young man plenty of time for him to develop and build on his position in the Newcastle team and lead them to the top.

Stephen Catchpole says...

A player who has great potential, but done nothing replacing a player who only used Liverpool as a stepping stone to Chelsea. Both players like the majority who show no loyalty to their employee's.Its just the money, pure and simple! It's absoutely obscene the monies involved for transfers. No club other than the big four have any future as they are just feeder clubs to them,I should know as I'm a hammer's fan,and often think of the side we could have had over the last 5-10 years, with the likes of Ferdinand,Lampard,Carrick,Cole,Johnson to name a few. Players should honour their contracts and the transfer window should be removed altogether. Chelsea have proven you cannot buy success, only for a short period as they now have an ageing side and wil finish 3rd or 4th. Ferguson has proven the way to do this is over a period of time, changing personnel as and when, hence the last 20yrs success has shown. Chelsea,Tottenham,Arsenal,Liverpool has shown it doesnt work any other way. Football is hitting the self destruct button and to many supporters has become and soon will be to all, a memory of what was once a pastime to look forward to. Thats the reality, wake up people and make yourself heard before its too late

Its a win win situation for both clubs newcastle get a good sum of money for a player who cost absolutley nothing and we get a young prospect garenteed to bring liverpool to where they belong in the premiership brilliant signing kenny

The fact that a player under contract can hand in a transfer request and force a club to sell him makes a mockery of contracts.

Ashley Kight (Newcastle United fan) says...

What the hell is going on. Carroll said in his interview the other day that he wanted to spend the rest of his career at newcastle. the club has stood by him with his off the field problems. loyalty obviously not in his dictionary. Lets be honest pardew, ashley will not let you spend that on a striker, plus with the wages price cap were in trouble. With five and a half hours left of the transfer market who we gonna bring in. youve let players leave a small squad and not replaced them. thanks again mike ashley for the great job your doing by the way (Not)

I'm very disappointed in Andy ... We opened our hearts to you, we made you the player you are today and after we turn down a £30million offer, you turn your back on the city, on us - the fans !!! I wish you well but you are not welcome "home" anymore !!!

Adam Mayer (Newcastle United fan) says...

I can guarantee that none of that money will be spent on to strengthen the newcastle squad. They will say " its too late in the transfer window now and we will look to spend it on in summer." SUMMER COMES and some unknown driftwood who a relegation threatened team team does not want will come to newcastle for 1.5 million pounds. Mike ashley...get out of newcastle!
