It's great to hear an honest 'down to earth' perspective on the season! We need to increase our squad's strength in depth this summer and keeping hold of Alonso is imperitive to this....

Great player and good character on the pitch, his passing ability is a huge asset to our midfield and he and Mascherano seem to have formed a good relationship in the two holding roles of out 4-2-3-1 formation. Barry as far as I can see would give us more options in the middle and on the left flank although I would rather see quicker, more creative players filling the spots on the left side. Just wanted to say what a class act this fella is. On and off the Pitch he is a shining example to everyone. Albeit the Barry rumours I believe Xabi has a big future at Liverpool. Its the tight games against the likes of Chelsea in the CL semi's is where Alonso comes into his own. I hope he stays.

You need to get your facts right. The gap between Liverpool and the top teams has not increased. Infact, Liverpool are 11 points behind the champions Man Utd compared to 21 last season!!
