Golden Bear diehard admirers are clinging to the yardstick of number of majors won and will never accept Tiger as the greatest player to grace this game until and unless Tiger surpasses Mr. Nicklaus's 18 majors. I won't be sleepless over this issue as in another year or two the true will be dawned that it is inevitable Tiger will be the indisputable greatest player of all time

I think it depends on what era you grew up watching golf, if you grew up watching Nicklaus, you will appreciate his ability and style of play, but if you only have really watched woods play, then you will think he is the gretaest, and having watched both, TIGER is the greatest, he went through a US open injured, played poor by his standards, and still comes out on top! That is impressive!! The man is not human... he had to hole a difficult put to get in the playoff, then done it again to force it to 19 holes !! He does not feel pressure, and the way he is going will reach easily 30 majors !!

Woods is a fantastic golfer, though for me Nicklaus is still at present the greatest of all time. To compete for as long as he did, even winning at major at 46; takes one hell of a player. Combine that with the fact he won 18 majors whilst competing against the likes of Player, Palmer, and Watson; not to mention other top golfers in short periods like Trevino, and Miller to name a few. It could be argued that Woods is that good that the competition melts away when he is on the leaderboard. Or should that be on top of the leaderboard? Because he has never won a major when not leading going into the final round; the greatest win when they have to chase, as well as being the chased; when he does that and beats Jack's record then by all means call him the greatest.

No doubts about it, the Tiger is absolutely EXCELLENT and delightful to watch. But not yet the 'Greatest'. Give him time to catch up with the best that have ever played the game. His last dead ball was quite remarkable, but it's too soon elevating him to legendary.
I like him for his discipline and family life. But he still needs to learn a few things about humility. I want to watch him again at St. Andrews. Jack Necklaus record? Oh, Sure he'll break that too and set a new mark, provided he stays discipline and avoid too many injuries. I wear him my GREEN!

Tiger is the best around by far. He has a long way to go however before he can claim to be the greatest ever. He needs to learn how to lose with dignity & grace for a start. Nicklaus was modest & a supreme sportsman.

Having watched to full coverage of the US Open I was appalled with the fawning to T Woods at the expense of everyone else was to say the least Sad and will ultimately damage the viewing figures, I dont understand why he is elevated to the top of any position he achives, whether its plus 1 or minus 3 he always heads the category.
Finally He never calls four when his shot is heading for the spectators, is that so they can prevent the ball from going too far out of line ? and you the commentators never criticize it, why not ?

There is no doubt that Woods is one of the best, but for goodness sake, do we have to have commentators that cannot stop druelling over every move he makes. It's absolutely maddening! They're all out there giving their best and to have the commentators dronning on over every single swing/move/step Woods makes is nothing short of .... urrr! Please, make them stop!

R. Kelly's song " I'm the world's greatest" - should have been composed for Tiger woods. The guy is absolutely a legend on the golf terrain. He will create his own record that will be very difficult to equal. That's after he ovetakes Nicklaus.

There is no doubt of the Greatest man he is...He is amazing and no doubt he will break Nicklaus record in a year or so. He never played many tournament and yet produces the best displays. Rocco did increadible but fell short to match the great. It is with no doubts that Tiger pitch at the tournament when he knows he can win, he never pitch when he is not sure...He is the greatest in and off the Golf course. What a man!

This just goes to show that Tiger's "B" game is the second best golfer in the world right now. You can not compare the sports of today to that of the past - Equipment and rivalries are always changing. Having said that - This man is remarkable and the ultimate supreme athlete, not to mention the most perfect example of how to live the life of a Superstar.

Tiger Woods is not just the greatest golfer of all time, he is without doubt the greatest sportsman of all time. No-one comes close, not even Jack Nicklaus. Take yesterday, he won the world's toughest golf event and he only had one working leg!! Most players would have quit, he doesn't need the money, but he would not be defeated - there will never be another Tiger. Long Live The King of Sport!

I think Tiger will be the greatest ever, I personaly never liked golf but 4 years ago I was going through sport channels and saw him playing the buick open. I have been hooked on golf from then on. He has a flare and self dicipline that young guys like me would love to have and the way he plays is out of this world. He was born for golf.

How many players would settle for 4 majors? let alone 4 short of an all time record. Tiger Woods is so far ahead of everyone in modern golf that he won his latest virtually on one leg. For anybody else it would have been a good excuse for coming up short, but Tiger is anything but a quitter and I doubt he would have mentioned the leg had he lost the play off. He is the best in the world today, without doubt.
As for being the best ever i have no doubt in my mind that he is also that. I have said it before and will say it again. Sport has changed - every sport has changed. Players are more than that today. They are Athletes. They are highly trained and highly skilled, beyond anything that their predecessor ever were. I believe that almost all the greats of yesteryear would fail against modern sportsmen because of science and tecknology as well as attitude. TIGER WOODS IS THE GREATSET OF ALL TOME and he has not done yet.

This was the greatest Major championship I've ever witnessed on Tv, and will be talked about for years to come. Surely Rocco played his part to challenge Tiger who has claimed "The Greatest Ever" mantle from Jack

Nicklaus won 9 major's in his first 10 years as a pro.
Woods won 12 in his first 10 years, and just seems like no one can stop him. He's already the greatest golfer of all time, and in a few years when he's over taken Nicklaus he'll have the record to prove it.

Tiger has refreshed, rebranded and breathed new life into golf. Is he the greatest ever i think so. How many pros owe him for the living that they now earn - mediocre players earning a million a year. Woods has set a benchmark that will never be surpassed - no one will dominate the game as he did. The man never ever quits and that is what young sportsmen should emulate
