1. Strauss 2. Cook 3. Vaughan (c) 4. Pietersen 5. Bell 6. Collingwood 7. Ambrose 8. Broad 9. Sidebottom 10. Hoggard 11. Panesar Definitely leave Harmison out but I think Hoggard has proved he's still worthy of his England place - especially as Anderson is still to inconsistent. I'd have Shah on standby and would also have Flintoff involved in the squad with a view to having him in the squad for the 2nd test.

I think the team injuries aside should be: 1.Cook 2.Bell 3.Pietersen 4.Bopara 5.Collingwood(c) 6.Flintoff 7.Ambrose 8.Rashid 9.Jones 10.Sidebottom 11.Panesar. All of these players have performed in recent years and i think young players like rashid and bopara (who isn't that young anymore) need to be given the chance to step up. Some of the best players ever started at a young age, such as Tendulkar at 16 and Ponting at 17. They didnt immediately score centuries but were given the time to establish themselves in the national side and look at what they have achieved now.

Have some of these comments been put on by Sky to provoke some debate.....Vaughan left out, Pietersen captain, Harmison in, Swann in ahead of Monty....What's going on chaps?! We've come of the back of a series win over NZ, I would keep the same top six - by the sounds of it Vaughan will go to three with Strauss opening. Strauss seems to be in good touch at the mo and Vaughan has got starts which he just needs to build on ahead of SA and Steyn, Morkel etc! Ambrose did a decent job so stick with him, Flintoff to come in at eight to start with. Anderson out and Sidebottom, Broad and - depending on conditions - Monty or Hoggy to make up the rest

NO ROOM FOR FLINTOFF - he needs to score runs and take wickets at county level before we even consider giving him a test spot. In light of the fact that England have dropped Hoggard & Harmison can we put a play in whos form is questional at best. This also applies from Vaughan - although I would keep him in the side as I do not see any Captains in the side.

being consistant in selection won us the ashes so it is my opinion that you have to stick with your winning team, but as soon as there is an injury or a drop in form get Flintoff in.Vaughns captancy is worth 50 runs( Mike Brearley survived without a ton).we are fortunate that we have 20 players that easily make the team.

1. Strauss 2. Cook 3. Bell 4. Pietersen 5. Flintoff 6. Collingwood 7. Ambrose 8. Hoggard 9. Harmison 10.Sidebottom 11.Panesar Personally i think this should be the team. With no. 12 and 13 in the squad being Broad and Shah for replacments if they are needed. Does anyone else think the same?

I think the keeper Ambrose should be given a run in the side after he proved he can be very useful with the bat. As for the batsmen it is my view that the top 5 should be Cook, Bell, Collingwood and Pieterson. To me with the batting line up the question is do you pick Vaughan as a captain or give those duties to someone else and drop Vaughan for an opening batsman in form? Flintoff without doubt should be given a place as a valuble all rounder. As for the bowlers, like Ambrose, Broad shold be given a run in the side and Hoggard should be given the chance to win his place back. This leaves two places up for grabs which I think should be given to two youngsters to blood them to the international scene against what should be a weak opposition.

Joe Mulcahy says...

The bowling attack should have hoggard, jones and broad, with a spinner of swann or tredwell becasue both these spinners can bat. There should also be an allrounder of flintoff. the big question is to play bell or strauss to play. the captian should be Paul Collingwood

i think that the team should be kept as it is and bring mark ramprakash into the team on stand by in-case someone does fail with the bat

Peter Norman says...

I am a big fan of Key... he has gone away and worked hard on his game and deserves another chance in the Test arena. Let's face it the England top order isn't scoring enough runs so changes have to be made and Key is the logical choice. His 170-odd not out against New Zealand showed he is in form and ready to go. I also think Hoggard should be recalled... Anderson is far too erratic for my liking and England can't afford to carry him.
