"Gazza used to pinch our clothes" - ex-Everton man Alan Stubbs looks back on his playing days.
England managed to delay the seemingly inevitable on Sunday in Adelaide, some stoic batting making sure Australia had to wait to go 2-0 up in the Ashes series.
Andrew Strauss praised centurion Jonathan Trott for a "very high quality innings" in England's 22-run victory in Adelaide.Back to story
Still a sloppy performance being ultra critical. well done Prior for getting off the blocks but on such a beautiful batting strip, Geoff Boycott at 70 could have scored runs too! Plodding Trott actually showed a little more urgency so must ...have listened to my advice(!) but the rest of the team except the two tail waggers played poorly. Bell and Morgan are a worry and as for Pietersen, well his 'England' career really should be closing very rapidly. He hasn't scored a one day hundred since 2008 and looks like he'll need to be playing a village club before stands a chance of getting three figures again! Remember people that this is a very weak, no THE weakest Australian side for a very long while with only Watson and Hussey firing, so to believe that we're on an upward curve is a false dawn. My prediction of a 7-0 rout is now out of the question but I wouldn't mind betting 6-1 or 5-2 by the time the series ends.
