Daniel Morrell says...

The reason Ricky wont fight witter is because he was rude to him 2 years ago at the BBC personality awards, and ricky has always said, "when he did that he lost the right to fight me" he wasn't there to make a fight with witter it was an awards show and that why it will never happen, and Ricky would batter him silly.

Hatton is wise to stay clear of witter, Witter can deliver a great shot and Hatton cannot take one, He blamed the ref against Mayweather who admittely had put in better shifts, but there was always only ever gonna be one winner. I believe it would be the same if he fought Witter, he would wrestle with Witter for most of the fight then he would start getting caught and stopped towards the end. But unfortunately for Witter it will probably never happen!

Witter needs to realise the more he calls Hatton out and attempts to make the public believe Hatton is scared of him. the less likely the fight will ever happen. I respect Witter and his last fights have been very impressive but Hatton can not possibly be afraid as he has fought the best in the world. You do not call out Floyd Mayweathter if you are not supremely confident. Yes, Hatton lost but the point is there was no fear even at the end. I feel Hatton should stick to his plan to fight Lazcano then Malignaggi and then consider a Witter fight ( depending on his performance in his next 2 fights, he needs to fight Torres after Bradley ). Then Hatton could face Pretty boy in Wembley with the credibility of being the unified and universally recognised light welterweight champion. i feel any Mayweather remch would need to be at 140lbs for Hatton to have any chance.

I reckon Hatton should fight him. Hatton needs to bounce back after his fight with Mayweather and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

he deserves credit, he is literally impossible to tag, he's silky, skillful has paid his dues, and is a world champion representing england, im one of his 10 fans, or whatever the hatton fans call him 10 fans, but i've boxed all my life, hatton's fans are footy fans, not boxing

It's simple. If Hatton takes on Witter and loses (which would happen) then Hatton's career is over. If you care to look on youtube, you'll see that Hatton has agreed to fight Witter on more than one occasion and then bottles it and refuses to fight him, making up every excuse in the book. The fact is, Hatton is made for Witter and would lose by KO inside 6 rounds. Witter is clearly the better boxer and Hatton knows it. Hence he won't fight him. Junior, call out Mayweather or Cotto and ignore Hatton.

if Hatton was the great boxer he wants us all to believe he would have shut Witter up a few years ago rather than dodging him because of his style. The reason why this bout has never happened is Witter is far better than any hand picked or over the hill fighter Hatton likes. Mayweather took him apart and so would Witter given the chance why fight someone hardly anyone has heard of for your big homecoming surely defeating Witter would put Hatton back on track rather than another nobody on the cv!!! Hatton stop running and fighting losers fight Witter!!!

People can have a go a Witter all they like, but they have short memories if they think Hatton has fought all the best... until he beat a Tszyu his career had been well managed. And since that win Hatton has only fought Castillo and Mayweather of note... and he lost against Pretty Boy. And lets not forget struggling against Collazo. Witter is the WBC champ for good reason and he has beaten the dangerous Corley and Harris, He also boxed cleverly to beat Kotelnik - the man Enzo Calzaghe gave no chance to before he ripped away the WBA title from Gavin Rees! You can't blame Witter for wanting to settle the score in the ring, but Hatton won't fight him because it is a dangerous fight. Witter is similar in style - but in no way the same class as - the P4P king Mayweather and Hatton knows only too well that he will come unstuck. If he was soooooo sure of winning he would have shut Witter up in the ring.

Witter/Hatton is a great domestic fight but i understand why Hatton wouldnt want to make it. It's not a massive money spinner in the way in which De La Hoya or a Mayweather rematch would be and at this stage of his career i imagine Hatton is thinking about cashing in on what will surely be his last 3 to 4 bouts before he retires. Witter needs to get his own exposure in the states and nationally as a top boxer as Hatton did before it's worth Hatton's time taking the bout.

Luke Senior says...

11KO's in 21 wins is decent, but hardly compares to his own ratio of 21 in 36, or Hatton's 31 in 43! Furthermore, if an unbeaten American fighter in a title fight isn't being hyped like hell, he can't be all that cracking. It's all very well saying he holds the WBC title etc, but it's the fighter that makes the belt, beating useless mandatories won't make you a great champion and popular like Hatton and Calzaghe etc. Also - champions shouldn't call people out. They should call you out. Oh, sorry, forgot, they are all scared. Not.

If witter fought as well as he moaned about why ricky hatton wont fight him then he would be unbeatable. hatton has the reputation and the audience to fight anybody he wants. Why would he give witter a massive pay day. he has no reason to. Unfortunatly Mr Witter you will never get your shot at hatton. Get on with it and stop moaning, its laughable

Witter is the WBC World Champion, a legitimate belt. He beat Vivian Harris who is a very credible opponent. He took the Zab Judah fight at very short notice and was probably not his wisest decision. Hatton doesn't want to fight Witter because of his style, Hatton likes fighters to stand in front of him and have a war, like Mayweather Witter won't stand and be hit. Kosta Tzyu was past his best when he fought Hatton and came to Britain for a big payday to see him into retirement. Hatton is having a "home coming" with a hand picked opponenet who he is almost certain to blow away in 3 or 4 rounds, Hatton's camp didn't want Harris or several other fighters. If Hatton is that much better than Witter then let him bash him up, isn't that what all Hatton fans really want to see? My opinion is that Witter is too quick and too smart for Hatton and that will be the reason they never meet.

Hatton vs Witter is a must! if the powers that be want to keep not only british boxing, but world boxing alive, then this fight has got to happen! My hat goes off to the likes of David "the Hayemaker" Haye, giving boxing fans what they want to see and keeping the sport alive and exciting by taking the tough fights. A champion in todays scene no longer has to fight the toughest opponents in order to be graced with such a title and this is something that has certainly got to be looked at and rectified!

Daniel Webb says...

I think witter is a good fighter but part of me understands what hatton means...even im gettin sick of hearing him whine on about fighting hatton...to be honest i dont think hatton is the best fighter ever but i do think he would beat witter....i would love to see it happen but also understand why hatton hasnt fought him. It also annoys me that witter says hatton is scared of him...hatton fought kosta tzyu when everyone thought he was unbeatable, and he fought the best p4p fighter in teh world, yeah he lost but he fought him...obviously not afraid to fight. But thats just my 2 pennies worth!

Adam Campbell says...

Put a cork in it junior....you had your chance against Zab Judah and ran for 12 rounds....Go and beat a world class oponent and get our attention....(like thats gonna happen) You cant even sell out your local leisure centre never mind 55,000 people. Nobody Cares!!! Although seeing you on your knees with a hand full of broken ribs would be awesome....but it wont happen...forget about Ricky and aim a little lower.....!
