Why is everyone banging on about Pavlik now? Joe has been super middleweight champ 11 years, he's earned the right to choose who he wants to fight. Pavlik would be the stiffest challenge but Joe wants to retire and make a few quid, the Jones option is easier to broker and would make more money. Simple. People will always go on about Pavlik, but consider this....would an in form, younger Calzaghe beat Pavlik? Undoubtly so. Joe has greater speed, repertoire, boxing ability and know how than Pavlik. Anyone who doesn't recognize this has poor boxing understanding. Have some respect for Calzaghe and let him bow out on his own terms.

There's no way that Calzaghe should face Pavlik. Pavlik is in his prime and Calzaghe has had much better days, I'd go for a Pavlik KO if the two met. Calzaghe just has made a natural progression to Light-Heavyweight and has zero to prove at a lower level now. However, even though Jones Jr. isn't a shadow of his former self Calzaghe himself isn't as explosive and desrtuctive as he was as a 30 year old. It will be a clash of two boxers who will go down in greats and Calzaghe will be the much fancied to win. Should they fight and Calzaghe register a win, it will be the fitting way for him to bow out. As a modern day undefeated legend.

Good luck to Joe for the future... but i cant see him beating RJJ, Joes been a great fighter but Roy was something special and will be able to take all of Joe's puches and Roy will be able to hit him quicker and faster due to his previous time in the heavy weight division. I dont think Joe should fight either Froch or Pavlik because they will be too fit and powerful for Calzaghe aswell..... but whatever happens Joe should be remembered as the best British fighter of all time and i believe he should get into the promotion game.

Dave Jones .... What are you on about? I think teh fact that nobody will fight Froch says it all really! Hes fast with stunning power at this weight and if JC had any real passion except money he would fight him and give the british public another England vs Wales fight night and with a similar outcome! JC is old and only fights people even older and ducked his way around until everyone got even older than he is and now runs around beating up old men for masses of cash! Fair play but best british boxer of all time? Erm no! Hatton may have been sat on his bum but at least he boxed a real legend who wasnt collecting his free bus pass!! Froch would win hands down! I do think JC would beat Pavlik though as he is not as good as he and some people think!!

What could Joe possibly gain from beating a guy that is totally shot other than money? Horrible fight should be Pavlik at 168 lets hope and pray it isnt Joes last fight its a terrible way to end a great career.

It's the right fight for Calzaghe, after which I hope he retires undefeated and undisputably the greatest British boxer of all time. Pavlik has come too late and if he was serious, he should have fought Kessler first to establish himself as a legitimate challenger instead of Gary Lockett! Fighting on won't do Calzaghe any favours either. He'll be getting on, so why should he allow the young guns to make a name for themselves off his reputation. Calzaghe will have the record plus the biggest names on his CV plus the memory of some of the most sublime performances ever witnessed in a boxing ring. One of the true greats and easily our best since Ken Buchanan.

calzaghe has really surprised me with his disloyalty to frank warren. he has promoted him his whole career and has recently got him several huge fights. joe is a wimp and should have fought jones years ago, now hes all washed up. PAVLIK is the real contender and would knock calzaghe out in 6 to 8 rounds.

Calzaghe is a top fighter but he wouldn't be able to beat Pavlik. Kelly ain't an amazing fighter but he is super strong and i feel Joe wouldn't be able to stand up to it at 36. If it was a few years back then it would have been interesting and i would have gone for Joe. Plus everone knows Joe struggles to meet the weight at Super Middle. Roy Jones promises to be a great final fight possibly the last for Jone as well. Looks like Vegas, i'll be picking between this one or Hatton state side!!!

Although Im really excited about JC fighting what may well be his last fight in September, I am really disappointed that he is considering going to Las Vegas for it. RJJ has stated on numerous occasions that he would come to Cardiff for this fight, so why go over there ? I think JC will win this comfortably but only if he sorts his left hand out in time.

Roumor has it that this fight is a done deal for Sept, and if Joe wins then he will line up Pavlik for his swansong next year. I just dont believe this will be JC'S last fight. There's to much pressure now to fight Pavlik, from both sides of the pond and i cant see Joe ignoring that. Think Joe should fight him before Froch does, cause we all know what will happen if Froch beats Pavlik, they'll be asking questions of Joe when he's gone!! Dont think Joe wants that!!!

I think people in the UK are forggeting how shot Roy Jones is. He should have fought Kelly Pavlik. Jones wont go past 8rds.

I'm a bit upset really. Calzaghe should be fighting Pavlik as he is the one to beat at present. If Calzaghe beat Pavlik then he would shut all the critics up. Pavlik is screaming for this fight and making Calzaghe look like a coward. Joe should dispose of him then have his final fight against Jones or Taylor. then he would be the king of Boxing.

What a birthday treat this would be for me on September 20th! ... Already getting excited. Although i think the former pound-for-pound king and future Hall of Famer may just be too much for Calzaghe. Jones Jr is also my favourite boxer of all-time to. I just cannot wait!

I really hope that these two get it on come September! It should be a cracking fight between two of the all time great boxers of the modern era. You can never underestimate the skills of either RJJ or JC. My early prediction.... Roy jones jr by split decision!!

I think JC has had a long and disciplined career and is entitled to top up his pension in what is his last fight. There are plenty of younger fighters coming through now, that can fight over the scraps in the void that JC leaves behind and it will be facinating to see who comes out on top, Froch, Pavlik, Kessler, et al.

Carl Froch needs to shut his mouth. Calzaghe would clean him up in 5 punishing rounds. I will enjoy seeing him "Whopped" by Jermaine Taylor and then later on as a punch bag by Kelly Pavlik. Come on South Wales!

This should be one hell of a fight! Two of the boxing greats head to head! Joe is a fantastic fighter but I think Jones jnr will have more than Hopkins bought an will really make Joe work! Just can't wait to see the fight an hopefully one of the greatest fights in history!

This fight should have taken place 6 years ago. I fail to see the significance in this match up other than being one last payday for both men. This just doesn't fire my imagination. Calzaghe will win this easily. A match-up with Carl Froch or Kelly Pavlik would have been intriguing - but possibly too dangerous. Let's hope Froch wins the vacated super middle belt and fights Pavlik - that would be a fight.

Gonna be a great fight, both fighters have had brilliant career's and its a great move to sort the boxing politics out themselves, can see it going the distance and Jones jnr getting the vote...
