Quite simply Khan cannot hold a shot to the chin or head - he just isnt made to take punches - the great fighters have great punch resistance - khan has very poor punch resistance - you cannot develop a good chin - your born with it or your not . THere a quite a few levels for khan to go above prescott where the top contenders hit harder and with more accuracy , to think khan wont get hit with a solid punch again is laughable , that was a brutal KO - a fighter cant have too many of them . After the left jab stopped him in his tracks he took a left hook high on the temple that set his legs wobbling not even a flush shot - remember the Gomez left hook that dropped him ? that was a short left with an open glove and it still put him down - I seriously think khan has a thin skull - I pray he doesnt get seriously hurt, but his brothers dont give a toss - not while he is earning.

i think that he has had hand picked opponents! this is a typical prince naseem syndrome whereby people look good against weak opponents, unfortunately this went wrong and the promoters have only themselves to blame for giving khan false confidence. by picking weak opponents they are guaranteed further matches which equals more money, it doesnt make sense for a promoter to pitch their man against a real opponent as their career may end in tatters and there will be no further money to be made. sports fans should be seeing the most fearsome figting each other, gladiator style!

Well just like Audley, Britsih fans have be lead to believe we have a "World class boxer". Remember in Athens he came SECOND. Any boxer can get an impressive start to their career and good stats if they fight nobodys. British boxing needs a plan of action to create stars of the future, and no just big up average people like khan. As for the fight with Hatton, I thought it was just a worried Khan using Hattons name to get in the press.

That's it for Amir. Every fighter in the world now knows that he cant take a punch. Any half decent fighter knows how to beat him. You can work on technique until the cows come home but at the end of the day, if you cant get hit at these weight divisions then your not going anywhere. It's a shame but that's just boxing.

Its funny, how when khan lost everyone is quick to drop their support, and mention how he is cocky and/or arrogant, chinny and whatever, but when he is winning we are all behind him. He had a bad fight, true!, wrong game plan, true! but he is young enough and talented enough to come back stronger and better. Then all his doubters will again be supporting him. Sad state of affairs, but cme on Amir, December the 6th, make it count!!!

I have to agree with harrison (kahn's old trainer) his tactics were all wrong i dont know if it was rubios plan or if kahn was over blocking, i.e. rubio has told him to keep his hands up and kahn took this to much to heart trying to impress his new trainer. Yes he should keep his hands up but kahn needed to move his head and be continually jabbing and staying on the outside. It was a tactical defeat, he rushed in on a guy with 90% KO rating and payed for it. Taking nothing away from Prescott though he knew this was very likely to happen, spotted the gap and pulled a beautiful left hook which could have KO'd a guy with an iron chin. People do over hype Kahn, he does have a weak chin and a poor defense, but he does throw a staggering amount of different punches and combination and has speed to boot. Kahn future depends on whether he can recover from this for the better.

People keep forgetting Amir is only 21!! He is no where near his peak. De La Hoya kept getting put down early in his career because he was rushing himself, he had the same sort of hype surrounding him due to his gold medal. Look at what he went onto achieve in his prime. If De La Hoya got put into the ring with Shane Mosely at 21 he would have got blown away too. Amir has learnt the hard way unfortuantely, he kept talking about breaking Prince Naz's record but should have realised the division Naz fought in and the one he's in are very different. Amir is fighting in one of the toughest divisons in the sports at the moment. Any agree?

Khan is a good fighter with speed and talent and i think he needs to look up to Floyd Mayweather, even though he has a good chin and can obviously take punches watching his previous fights, he does not like getting hit and due to that he mastered a perfect defence and always moves. He weighed 147 and beat a 154 fighter in Dela Hoya by movin, slipping and sliding and landing bombshells on his opponents and steps away after without getting hit. This with his skills ,agility and stamina makes him the best fighter ever and Amir Khan posseses a lot of these skills. All he needs now is for a world class trainer to help him master them and execute it perfect. Why do you think Mayweather's dad is now Hattons trainer - a very smart move. A fighter must be ready for any kind of opponent you just need to have the right plan, simple as a b c. If you are scared to fight a particular opponent, then retire - common sence You cannot change a fighter but you can make him more aware of certain things and give him fight knowledge thats why there is a thing such as a trainer. I am not an Amir Khan fan but i know he does have talents and can most definately learn and be a champ one day, Good luck Amir.

Well..I think Amir Khan is not the boxer, he thinks he is, Who would imagine that the is the same guy calling the likes of Manny Pacqauio,Nate Campbell and Ricky Hatton out in a couple of weeks ago. That can never happen, He is not the same class, skill wise and experience to spar with these guys not to talk of stepping into the ring with them.Amir is good for British and Commowealth titles, maybe European, but definitely not the World.(WBC,WBA and IBF).Frank Warren should not bring him back,He has fought nobodies all his career including Prescott, but the Colombian showed us that Khan belongs to HISTORY.He should retire now.

It's completely ridiculous that people are saying things like 'look at what he has achieved' 'He will work on his defence and come back stronger' 'He should use his speed to hit first', etc. The fact of the matter is, as a professional boxer, he has achieved ZERO! He has beaten a few unknowns and over the hill journeymen. Give any half decent boxer the money and opportunities Kahn has had, wrap them in cotton wool to protect them, as well as giving them the time to train properly and I guarantee they could beat the bums Kahn has beat too, and give Prescott a much better fight! Yes he can work on his defence, he could become a defensive master like Mayweather Jnr, but somewhere down the line he is going to have to take a punch n quite simply, he can't. He can use his speed to avoid punches but at some point the inevitable will happen n he will get caught and fall short again and again and again. He was cold going into the fight with Prescott but no matter how cold, a potential world champ should not be severely rocked by the first jab of a fight! It is harsh, really harsh but Kahn cannot cut it at the top. How can he possibly compete at world level when he cannot take a punch? Nothing will change this. Yes he is entertaining, fast and at times explosive but every time somebody bangs him hard, he's going down. It's a shame to busrt his bubble but the more people say he can come back and be World Champ, the more he will believe it and the more disappointed he will be when he comes thudding down to reality. The only way he will become World champ is with a carefully planned, easy route manufactured by his promoters and trainers but if it comes to that and he does get a world title, what happens when he has to defend it? The false hope you are all giving will ruin this kids life! It's about time everyone faced up to reality, including Kahn.

He is a 21 yr old millionaire who has fought no one. what does this tell you about the state of british boxing today? People like Peter Jones can ask us what we acheived at the age of 21, well Peter, I was succeeding in my Job, unlike Amir Khan who has slipped up at the first hurdle.

Amazing Knockout .Amir khan is a good sportman and a role model for younger people. lets not forget hes only 21. he was abit too eager to get to the top he has all the tools of a champion he needs to work on a few things but he has the potential.Boxing is a cruel game at times- amir khan thinking he cannot be touched and then comes the powerful columbian and then it turned your world upside down, so this could make him into a elite boxer in the future. this knockout reminds me of lennox lewis vs hasim rahman, but we dont remember lennox lewis on that basis. so lets support amir khan, and hopefully he comes back better and stronger from this. The puches he got caught with would have took out alex arthur and gomez they were powerful punches. amir khan has been caught a number of times by british challengers but only been flash knockdowns which he has come back to win and wasent really hurt by any of them so it shows how powerful those shots were.

The W says...

OK here is the low down. Khan is not a great fighter, it takes more than speed to beat the best - fact! I might also like to point out to people that Khan's ambition is to be a world champ, so why is everyone in his camp (except his trainer) disappointed that he took the fight, surely to be the best you must beat all who stand before you. He will come up against alot tougher opposition in his quest for supremacy, if he cannot beat this apparent unknown then he has little chance of beating the top boys in his class. Lets forget about Khan and start thinking about Nicky Cook, can take a punch, give a punch and looks a really good fighter. Arthur couldn't get near him!

amir khan is a good boxer bt at the moment it is just potential.he has to harness this potential.it is the same story with british stars of any sport.put them on a pedestal and drop them the 1st time of asking.the boxer amir had a fight with is relatively unknown in cuba and is lower in the ranks there.that is because they dont do what we do.they go head over heels for a boxer once a boxer accomplishes himself.whereas we brits do it early.in the end amir khan has not accomplished himself.he has won nothing.yes he won silver at the olympics but now he is fighting at another level and must raise his game.i also blame his new trainer.amir khan has a certain style to his fight.he slips and slides.he may get hit but he gives better than he gets.instead of changing his style he should be improving the one he alredy has.amir khan has unbelivable speed and must use it.not stand there blocking evrything coming to him.amir has always hit them befoe they hit him and it has alwys worked due to his speed.once he improves that technique he will return as a champ.

1st round knockouts are always desperately misleading. Khan was caught cold before a fight could develop so to say he was outclassed is disingenuous. Yes, he looks chinny but I guarantee he'll be working on defence now (!) and there is no reason he can't come back. It was not a career-shortening sustained beating. If this doesn't make him gun-shy then he still has talent and good backing which can carry him a long way even if he won't be the fighter we hoped.

I am a keen admirer of Khan due to the enthusiasm he has and the willingness to learn without being too cocky. He is respectful and hard working. But, although explosive in attack and extremely entertaining to the viewers I'm sorry to say after the Limond fight I wondered if he can hold his own when it comes to taking a punch. Many of my mates who are interested to see him do well have commented on him having a weak chin which I also beleive is true. I hope that he can get back into the gym work on his defence and get back into the ring with a new strategy. I think the media again have over publicized Kahn as they do with all of their potential stars and have the knife ready to stab in the back at any hurdle. Kahn and his team should be proud of what he has achieved and mereley look upon this as a minor set back, he's an inspiration to all us young guys. In terms of a showdow with Hatton he'd seriously need to work on his defence as Hatton only fights in one style and any opponent stepping into the ring better be-able to take a hit. Apart from that, Good Luck Amir!!!

Ian Cornish says...

I said from the start Khan could not take a punch.People said his previous visists to the canvas were "flash" knockdowns. The one against Limond wasn't,he was caught with a flurry of punches and went down hard.If a non puncher like Limond could do that,it was obvious what would happen when he got in the ring with someone who could bang. I suppose Warren will now put him in with another 20 stiffs to rebuild the myth, then when he faces the next decent fighter he will get ko'd again. Khan hasn't got a glass chin, more like crystal!

This is the problem with the British public... they always want to see their stars fall.... The young lad was ambitious... theres nothing wrong with having ambitions... definitely needs to work on his defence... game plan was all wrong.

Amir paid the ultimate price soon as he said he was bigger and stronger than his opponent. No one should be taken lightly in a sport where you have knockout your opponent, o well there is still enough nobodys for him to fight to get him back on track.

Darren Fieldhouse says...

What bugs me the most about the comments people leaving on khan's loss is the great lengths people go to make a point that he deserved to lose because he is cocky and arrogant. Him just saying he thinks he can win a world title and match other fighters is a sign of confidence (rightly or wrongly) not arrogance or cockiness. You have to self promote to make people interested in you.David haye is running his mouth off at the moment saying how he is going to clean up the heavyweight division and how heavyweights are scared of him...thats arrogance and being cocky. British boxing will never reach its true potential if our boxers dont generate interest in the sport. What ever you say about khan im sure you will tune in to watch what happens next in the khan story.
