Another example of the hype exceeding the talent. Yes, he's got style, he can move and punch, but he gets hit and gets knocked down by inferior opposition, so why was Prescott not taken seriously? Khan has believed his own hype and has fallen at the first proper hurdle. He may come back, or this loss may well affect him, like it did when Lacy lost to Calzaghe, and one thing is for sure - every boxer with a half decent punch will now fancy their chances against him. With a chin like glass we can never truly expect him to be a world great, he just ain't got the full compliment of tools.

It's about time Khan was shown what a real fighter can do in the ring. Amir and his team were aware of the dangers of Bredis Prescott's thundering left hook, but it seemed Khan was more focussed on winning the crowds hearts than winning the fight. I have been a fan of Khan since his commonwalth silver, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see he is unsteady in the opening round of his fights, so what posessed him to come out swinging like a schoolboy in a playground fight against one of the biggest hitter in that division? I see alot of Prince Naseem in Khan... A great fighter with alot of potential, but too engrossed in fame and fast cars. Lets just hope he picks himself up from this crushing defeat and comes back wiser and stronger.

Lots of people are saying any fighter would have gone down if hit with those punches. Fact is NO true quality fighter would have got hit by those punches in the first minute of a big fight. The first round should always be a 'feel your way in' job - he rushed in like a kid in his first ever fight and, with a dodgy chin, that's no way to fight. He got what was coming, he will never be world class, NEVER.

Don't get me wrong... Khan is a great fighter, but he got too greedy. In my opinion he should have waited and worked his way up, instead of jumping straight in thinking he could beat anybody. But that knockout punch was unbelievalbe, I hope Khan makes a comeback...

Since this fight was made I've been telling everyone I know that Prescott was the man to floor Khan and it happened in 57 secs, it was a shock to me that Khan was floored so quick but if you look at the History of Khan's fight record, his previous opponents were just confidence builders, they weren't opponents that tested all of Khan's locker, i.e his defence, chin, gut, and by choosing a South American opponent he made the wrong choice, especially one with a 90% knock out rate, and as they statistics say a lot and instead of using his heart like he always does, he should have used his head and chose a fighter who was someone he actually thought he had a realistic chance of beating and secondly he should not have dropped his previous trainer, because Oliver took Amir to the olympics and made him into the fighter he was today and if he was in Khan's corner instead of Jorge, I think Khan would have had his undefeated record intact as Oliver would have avoided a fighter like Prescott as his power overwhelmed Khan's God given Hand speed. Also if Khan decides to take a rematch with Prescott, he must be 100% sure he is ready and have all the angles covered or he'l suffer the same fate as before!!!

To all the people that have written Amir off at 21, have you heard of the saying that everyone has a puncher's chance? This is exactly what happened in this fight, Amir got caught with a good punch which has had happened to journey men and world champions alike (Lennox Lewis springs to mind and countless others) It's typical of the British public to build up a sporting hero and then turn thier back at the first sign of a defeat.

I don't think Khan was over the top with his cockiness, maybe just a little but he's young and making money so its only natural. I think Khan's defence was suspect from his last few fights, when Gomez was able to floor im it should hve sent alarm bells ringing. Gomez is a reative nobody, past his best and even then wasn't very good. The fact Amir was floored should've shown his trainers he had holes in his defence. Putting him up against a knock-out artist is not the best idea. I don't realistically think he'll be able to recover enough to get a world title. Good luck to him, but all credit is due to Prescott. He knew what he wanted to do and backed up his words with his fists. 2 great KO's in one night (the other one being Rashad over Chuck)!!

Jonathan I agree 100%, Amir was a talented amataur, he has fought a bunch of nobody fighters and is walking around very arrogant, calling our Ricky Hatton, and saying he will be the youngest world champ in boxing history. He has no defence, this isn't the first time he has been put on the canvas, and after a performance like that Sky will be fuming after signing him up for Box Office, I for one wouldn't pay to watch him fight. He needs to get back to basics, and forget about a world title shot, and loose the arrogance that Naseem Hamed had in his days.

told u so!!!!!!! b4 the gomez fight i said khan was bigged up to be the next big thing, only prob is he aint. he aint got the chin to deal with credible opponents, he thinks he can beat any one yet he cant defeat a bloke no1 has ever, EVER heard of!!! He's too big headed, yes he can punch but so can 50 other boxers in his weight division. only difference is most of them can actually take a punch!! cant believe this boy had the Cheek to mention names like pacman and hatton as future opponents!!!!!!! he is pathetic, hope the uk dont rely on him to be a world champ after calzaghe has gone, harrison has gt a better chance than khan lol

As much as we all wanted Khan to do really well. Simple fact is he may as well give up boxing now. He has a glass jaw and no defence, thats a recipe for disaster. Against a Top 10 boxer in his division i dread to think what would happen to him. I think he should go back to school and go back to basics. I bet Sky are distraught they signed him up what a waste of air time that was. You have to also praise the media however for making him out to be the next best thing. Wonderful what the media can do to you. Lesson to learn everyone dont believe everything you see or hear.

Why is everyone is so shocked? I've had suspicions about his chin ever since the Limond fight and, whilst a tighter defence will help in the future, I doubt he'll ever be able to stay upright when he mixes with top-draw, heavy-handed opponents... look at the quality in the division! Does anyone really think he'd be able to handle any of the current top five fighters?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Everyone is criticising the choice of opponent, but Prescott hadn't fought anyone of considerable note. Secondly, in this country we build people up and then knock them down at the first sign of trouble. I think Amir Khan is an exceptional boxer, albeit someone who is still learning. I don't think he has a glass chin; he showed incredible heart against Limond when he came back after being floored by some great shots; and limond isnt a 'light puncher' as the bandwagon hoppers are calling him. I think Amir had a bad night at the office and was caught cold by a big punch when maybe he should have sized the guy up a little longer. His eagerness to impress is for our benefit,,,at least he's not an Audley Harrison who is a complete pretender. Amir showed inexperience and paid for it. Nothing else. All great champions find a way back and i'm sure he will. Good luck to the boy. His a great ambassador for Brtish sport.

Cant really see Khan comming back from this. I mean he wont ever be world champion, he might win some sort of title but he will continue to only fight bums that are light punchers. Also people are saying that his chin is ok and that he was caught with a good shot. Well it was a good shot BUT they guy was wobbled from a jab....a jab, if that wobbles you, you know your in trouble. I was getting fed up with khan saying he was the best ever bla bla bla.... that he belonged with the legends. You are only as good as to who you beat. I mean the guy needed a reality check and he got it, calling out hatton and pacquiauo, they would have been charged with murder if he fought them. However I dont want to take the victory away from Prescott, well done mate you trained hard, you wanted it and I'm glad you can finally get some money that you needed for you and your family

I think Amir is a great fighter but he needs to learn more, he is still young and is in a leraning period. Amir already proved that he has talent but he needs to learn from his mistakes. I am happy he is down because he will come back even stronger and with more experience. I hope i will see them both in the ring again but with a different result.

Ok so Amir's got a weak chin and his defence leaves alot to be desired!! But before writing him off, we have to remember that he is still very young and the boy is down to earth (not arrogant as some believe). He is also hard working not to mention that he has extremely quick hands and very good feet. Ok so he rushed in, most young boxer would have done the same, if anything this experience will do him the worl of good. As for his defence, it will improve over time with experience and as he keeps learning he will develop a style to compensate for a weak defence. If he can learn to bide his time & keep a cool head (not go steaming in!!) and use the ring to compliment his speed and style he will become a very effective fighter and eventually a World champion.... After all another british boxer with a weak chin became undisputed champion of the world, his name.... Lennox Lewis. He didn't do too badly did he???

firstly i want to respond to someone who pointed out that he should better his defence and used calzaghe vs lacy as an example . ok that fight was probably the best performance in british history possably in the world but calzaghe has a granite chin so he is very comfortable with his defence , amir however knows he is vulnerable and boxers like that make mistakes and openings as they r constantly thinking about trying not to get hit whereas calzaghe doesnt care as he knows his chin can handle it . secondly the amateur boxing is also to blame did anyone watch the olympic boxing ? a bunch of handbag slapping girls that just like a cuddle and a dance an absolute disgrace as a worldwide effort even that chump that won us gold is he the next hope ...god i hope not , for those that havent seen it go and watch it ,that wasnt boxing the scoring electronic system must be scrapped and revert to the trusted method or scoring . the amateur boxers think they r incredible after winning their gold medal but im afraid amateur dont mean diddly squat in boxing compaired with professional and khan for one was arrogant to think he was an incredible fighter ,his amateur crap style showed through which he has been trained all his life to do and yes i agree with other people that if he is skilled better and gets his defence absolutely impeccable then he will become a much better fighter but in his comeback fight which will most likely be a 6 or 8 round fight he will just get knocked out unless he fights a bum (again ) . 6 round is a long time in that round most boxers will concede that one round can sometimes seem like it will never end and amir has to avoid getting hit in that time by every boxer he meets ???? get real khan ! it aint no tickling contest as with the opponent u faced he is a rough warrior who has been fighting all his life just to stay alive , not a jumped up dancing contest runner up with as big an ego as his wallet ! 0/10

amir khan is a very talented kid... he has a weak chin but so have some of the greats...the difference is they knew how to slide away from a punch... some could do it on instinct others learned.. and amir will learn, he will watch the "tape" of the fight over and over see what he did wrong and come back, a wiser more rounded fighter. get off his back and judge him on his next few bouts...remember that eventually every fighter gets beaten.

GLASS JAW KHAN This is what we should call Amir Khan. Amir Khan is technically a good fighter but he cannot take a punch. This is a sport where you need resistance and on the first jab he was rocking. The reason for this is Khan has a long neck which will not give him any resistance what so ever. He firstly needs to build his neck muscles so he can at least take a shot. Secondly he is over hyped. Why is a boxer who isnt a world champion box office pay per view???? Lewis, Hamed, Joe Calzagie, Hatton all earned their pay per views by merit. I.E world champions. Amir Khan is a club fighter hyped by the public. He is comparison to Hit Man Hearns, a good fighter who cannot take a punch. At the age of 21 if he cant take a punch what will happen in the future? The past for fights he was suspect and now it is shown that he is not in the league of any of the fighters above. Also i am not prejudice because he is asian as i am asian myself pakistani. And im telling you the truth he is over hyped. Also Next time Khan if you dont want bad luck dont fight in the month of ramadan....... your mama should of told you that firstly since i know boxers are religious and superstitous. Kind regards Amar
