Given some time i think roy can get us back challenging! Im not going to raise my hopes for the coming season but I think once he makes the team his own and gets his own players in we can get back into the top 4 and push on again!!

If he's the right man at the right time with such an ever-so-good CV, why has he no Silverwear beyond Danish domestic cups? Frank Rijkaard who was also mentioned has won two League Titles in Spain, two domestic Cups in Spain and the European Cup twice. Just because one manages a top club does not give one an impressive CV. Silverwear is what counts, not the club you managed.

if liverpool finish is in the top four next season, roy hodgson should get manager of the decade!!the fact is liverpool are a footballing power that is going one way and that is down!!until the americans go liverpool are in huge trouble!!hodgson will not get them near the top four but he will steady the ship.liverpool fans will want him to get liverpool back to where they think liverpool belong,in their eyes thats winning the league.but to be honest the fans are living in the past.liverpool are not the club they were and havnet been for 20 odd years now.liverpool fans should stop talking bout this so good great club they support because thats a thing of the past.liverpool were a big club but not any more.

Don't agree Phil... Roy's a good man. None of us have anything personal against him, other than he chose to work for the morally corrupt in L4...The activists, and by that I mean the local websites RAWK/SOS and the "match-going" fanbase will see him as a "yes man" to Purslow. Broughton and by extention the cowboys who currently own us... Morally anyone with an ounce of dignity wouldn't go near those people let alone be employed by them. But as I've always suspected "Football people" have few morals when it comes to cash...In Benitez, we had a man who stood up to the asset-stripping of the past three years... It's part of the reason we loved him quite apart from Istanbul...Roy will do whatever they say. A cheap stop-gap until the owners get in, and a another step towards the sickening decline of a great club. I won't be booing Roy, but don't ask me to "get behind him" or support a lackey to those odious slimebags Hicks, Gillett, Purslow and Broughton... Because we're not that gulliable

i htink liverpool have done well to tempt a great manager (he will prove it more so know at liverpool) . Because at this moment in time they are only bigger than fulham on reputation what they need now is the ownership sorted . It should never be and neverhave been in american hands roy will be good for club and more than steady ship . but fans don`t expect miracles please . C`mon Roy

This is a great appointment for liverpool, he will steady the ship and he is very well respected by he's fellow pro's and the players will respect him. I think he will keep hold of torres and gerrard but mascherano will invetibly go. One thing that's annoyed me is the liverpool fans saying he isn't good enough he's a 3rd rate manage. WAKE UP you are a club in decline and playing europa league football (on channel 5). Consider your self lucky you have a top draw manager and he is very experienced.

I Believe Ghana can do it , I've been watching Ghana and they are actually pretty good , I would like to see them reach the semi-finals .Annan (centre-midfield)has been outstanding aswell as Prince Boeteng and Mensah . These boys deserve any good achievement that they are awarded .

He a fantastic signing, he's a humble man, does not court controversy, he gets on with the job, has a great manner with players (which Benitez never had), he will player players in their best positions most of the time and stick with his best 11-13 most of the time. He gets the best out of his players and is a top man. He is a manager in the mould of Shankly ,Paisley, Fagan. I hope Liverpool fans give him the support he deserves as he tries to turn around a ship heading in the wrong direction on/off the pitch. I would like to thank Rafa, he did his best for the club and was a good man. Good luck in your new job.

Agree.Contrary to popular opinion and the constant 'Knocking Brigade'in the media and public,L'Pool have won everything and remain, top of the league for honours! In the last ten yrs we have won the lot, including a fifth Euro Cup(Kept that one)The Prem is 'The Holy Grail',but i,personally can wait,a little longer! As you have pointed out,we need someone to 'Steady' the ship.We are at a very critical time of our history. We need the sale to go through and build the stadium. We need an owner(s) that are obviously, business astute but also to fully understand the club, history and have a real feel for the fans.YNWA!

I would love nothing more than Hodgson to be a success at Liverpool but the fact is neither United or Chelsea or even Arsenal for that matter would've included him in their selection process and Liverpool should be no different. It's a sad reality of how far the once great club has fallen. As for managing Finland and Switzerland, that's not exactly Brasil or Argentina...Maybe its the right man considering the time

I believe he is right man for Liverpool Football Club, to get as back into the Champions League places. But we have to fight for the Premier League as well, it is very important for the club and the fans as will. wish him all the best with as for next three yares and more.

Well said Mr Thompson. I'm certain Roy Hodgson is the right man for the job. He might not be a 'Hollywood' type manager like Mourinho, but he's had such a good career, taking on teams and improving them vastly.

Dean Edwards (Manchester City fan) says...

Im sorry Liverpool fans but does any Liverpool fan really expect them to finish 4th next season with Tottenham and Man City likely to spend big and Liverpool looking more likely to lose players rather then keep them. I think they will keep hold of torres and Gerrard but Mashcerano i think is almost certain to go to Barca now city look like they have Yaya Toure in the bag. And sorry Liverpool but in the Premier League you cant get in the top 4 by only having 2 good players. Torres is injury prone and Gerrard doesn't look the same player without him in the side. If Liverpool get 2 more WORLD CLASS players they have a chance but if they dont they havn't got a prayer

I can't understand the hype - he's had one season when Fulham over achieved. His other successes are at clubs at inferiar leagues. At best he a "nice man" (didn't seem so nice at Blackburn) and an average manager who is certainly inferior to the manager the have just sacked.
