ref phil battison, I really enjoyed your comment comparing Sir alex's record to the record of liverpools entire history! quite an achievement if you ask me! liverpool won the european cup in an era were it took 7 games to win, yes you won it 5 times and an extremelly lucky champs league final, apart from that, liverpool are not on the same planet as manchester united in size success support, infact the only thing in common is we both play in red! any how when weve won 19 20 21 leagues and another coupe of european cups in the next few seasons will you still claim the same! also your point in that it happens in cycles, it one gigantic circle united must be going in seeing as ryan giggs has won than your entire squad! good look in europe next year, you I mean on your holidays not your football club

MUFC - Making History, not living in it!! cough Liverpool cough!!
Posted 21:49 23rd March 2010
I think liverpool are going through a "dip in form" at the moment, the kind that manutd went through at the earlier stages of Sir Alex Fergusons reign but winning the Europa League may help their course, same with Alex Fergusons team of 89/90

liverpool fans wake up ! this is 2010 man . not 1980s . u comparing 1980 to 2010 ? omg . u guys just cant accept SAF a great manager . he single handedly bring utd to e top . n equalling liverpool league titles . theres no manager in this world can match that or even come close to what SAF achieve . Glory2 man united . liverpool go n you'll always walk alone .

Europe is no longer the competition it was 30 CL football is far harder to win now. You get through the groups then you can easily face the top 3 or 4 teams from Spain/Italy/England/Germany one after the other instead of facing only the Champions from Turkey, Greece, Russia It should only be a Chamions League but how else would Liverpool have won that last one if they were not gifted a spot through an exciting format

Rafa Benitez has single handedly managed to deconstruct any semblence of a winning mentality that liverpool had. You only need to look a the pathetic figure that was once Steven gerard. He had it all and in spadefulls. Sometimes watching him play was like that famous bugs bunny cartoon where bugs played every position on the pitch. He controlled and dictated how Liverpool played with pure skill and performance. Rafa Benitez you should hand your head in shame because you destroyed a true legend of a footballer. Do the honest thing and take yourself off before you destroy the only thing Liverpool now have going for them - fernando torres.

All I have to say is this...Please Please Please keep playing Lucas(another stellar Benitez signing) in the midfield. I love when I see him there. Then you know for sure Liverpool will pose no threat what-so-ever! It is absolutely hilarious watching Liverpool play. Soooo defensive. Soooo boring. West Ham poses more threat than Liverpool. Cant wait to see them finish 7th. And laugh all summer long when Gerrard and Torres move on. hahahah...Liverpool supporters make me laugh.... You guys are just not good. Stop fooling yourself. Arsenal - Class Aston Villa - Class Man Utd - Class Tottenham - Class There are others but all those built their teams up from the ground. Respect!!

some of these people cannot hold a genuine debate. SAF won a title in his second season ? no. he will always be the best ? i repeat - 2 european cups in twenty odd years. HE says that has been a failure, not only me. when he took over and talked of knocking liverpool off the perch - why ? because liverpool were, and are, on the perch that says the most succesful team in english history. not this season. or last. maybe not next. but over ALL TIME. that as rafa would say is a fact. when you respect that, you lot will cease to be in the denial you accuse me of. i didnt question SAF domestic achievements. why should i. ? i am lucky enough to have followed a great team/club for over forty years and witnessed probably more happiness than any other clubs fans in the same era, even if we never win a trophy again. As for the guy who says we havent won a domestic trophy in 20 years, well go and buy a book. when you learn to respect achievements of others, maybe the arrogance with which you proclaim yourself will wane. as my evertonian dad says it comes in cycles. arsenal, leeds, liverpool, united, chelsea, maybe city next who knows. most of modern football is decided by money. it is run by big corporate money, sky, and overpaid players AT ALL CLUBS. my one big beef with SAF is his conduct, his ungentlemanliness, his foul language and foul temper, when so many of the foreign managers are polite, dignified, and graceful in defeat. it makes the british managers look unintelligent and discourteous, at the very least. Anyway thank you SAF for noting that your long long career at United had one great ambition - to match what liverpool had done 20 years ago. at least thats honest.

Rafa has what I call chihuahua syndrome. That is to say he does a lot of loud yipping & yapping and is quite fond of nipping at the heels of a bigger foe but he doesn't have the cohones to go for the throat. When the chips are down, United consistently show the spirit of their old dog of a manager but if you come at Rafa's Reds, they curl up in a defensive ball, letting you back in the fight. Benitez has had several seasons at Anfield in which to learn to close the deal and last season at Old Trafford, it seemed that he might have finally caught on. Alas, now it's evident that result was just a one off. Liverpool need to retool both on and off the pitch. I say let Torres go to Madrid, possibly in a Ibra for E'to style swap with Higuain coming the other way. Such a deal makes economic sense as well. Give Benitez the freedom to sign with Real or Juve and sign Alex McLeish away from Birmingham. He's proven that he can do a lot with very little and that is now what Liverpool must do to once again be amongst the top four.

all this is a bunch of rubbish can you actually believe this guy , its not even been a year since liverpool finished second in the league and people are now calling us a `sinking ship ` . this season has been poor because we did not build upon last season , key players have been injured during inportant stages of the season . liverpool need to bring in new faces to the club and offload players that dont deserve to play for us .

I can't see why Liverpool fans are blaming the Americans for putting ye where ye are. Look at the money Rafa Rubbish Benetiz has spent over the years and look at teams like Stoke, Birmingham and may I say EVERTON have done this season. They don't have money to spend and yet look at how well they have performed without it. A lot has to do with the managers they have. The only player for liverpool that has realised this is Riera fair play to him..... As for Harry and his stability...well finishing 6th or 7th in the premiership will bring instability of the worst kind..Torres will go, so will Gerrard and people like Carragher will be past it and who wants to play in the second tier european competition. The Americans might go but they will be leaving not because they will be pushed out it will be because of a sinking ship...look at Leeds for a good example...

United forever making history liverpool stil living off theres..jus hw the stretford end banner reads! Enough said! MUFC foreva!
Posted 16:05 23rd March 2010
Its not rafas fault you can,t win the premership on a penalty shootout, thats all he,s capable of . Fergies record of premierships is remarkable when you think of how many they were behind Liverpool.

@Philip I've gotta say, United fans are hitting it where it hurts, but then again, Pool fans have been having it since Rafa came haven't we? Don't want to talk much about what's happening this season, cz if Liverpool were professional enough they would get over Alonso's sale to Real. Also, many of them says Pool fans are living in the past. Point taken. "Fergie is a great manager" - there's no disputing that. I as a Pool fan admit it myself. Don't get me wrong, I'm a die hard Liverpool fan, but some things are just inevitable, so let's get over it and not try to defend Liverpool like a spoilt child being defended by his/her mother. It's not that I don't want to talk good things about Liverpool - THERE'S JUST NOTHING TO BRAG ABOUT. Ohh, FT9's goal-scoring rate in the BPL is the only highlight, but do you think anyone would care? Call me a hypocrite if you want, but this is the TRUTH. REALITY. I'd like to hit back at the United fans as well, but I don't punch soft gloves. As for what to do with Liverpool, I honestly don't know. Either get a new owner and bring a new manager, or keep the current manager and let me say, "Good luck." Unless Rafa can suddenly conjure up a new magic trick, I'm not even looking forward to 10/11. Can I switch to F1? =P

As a Liverpool fan I am saddened by our demise in the last 12 months. Personally I must admit my support for Rafa has almost gone, his strange tactics and use of players whose form is diabolical and talent is not evident frustrates the hell out of me. Can Rafa turn things round next season?? Probably he has a good record of success, but would I be upset if Rafa wasnt here in the summer, answer is NO! In response to the email posted by Phil B, as a Liverpool fan there is no way you should be comparing Fergie to Rafa, you have to give credit where its due Fergie has been a fantastic manager over decades. But lets clear things up when it comes to MONEY that Rafa has spent! The squad Rafa inherited in 2005 consisted of 1 world class player Gerrard, Owen(sicknote- well done Fergie waste of wages) wanted out straight away. Now the current team has Torres, Reina, Mascherano and Gerrard. Yes Rafa has spent in excess of 200million but he has recouped in excess of 140million so an net spend of ten million pound per season isnt alot! The difference is world class players normally cost 18mill plus, we have signed Torres. Now worth atleast 70-80mill, utd have signed, Rooney, Ferdinand, Veron(oh dear), Van Nistlerooy, Nani, Hargreaves, Berbatov. So Fergie has had the money and like I said credit is where its due but the money issue with Benitez is a little annoying! Some

I bet back in the 1970s and 1980s the same thing was been said about Manchester United.....a club with great heritage, support and success lagging behind Liverpool, Everton and maybe Arsenal......Now look at them...........Liverpool's time is coming again......

Just commenting on Phillp's hilarious comment, to even compare SAF and Benitez should be a criminal offence! Last season they was worthy title challengers but Benitez got all carried away and actually tried to play mind games with Sir alex (woefully) and ended up heaping so much pressure on his team that they eventually ended up trophyless (again). They sold one player and there entire team and morale has imploded. We sell the worlds best player (at the time) and still find ourselves top of the league, in the quater finals of the champions league and a trophy already in the bag. Liverpool are a spent force who live off thier very old history, even thier talismanic skipper is fed up and finally realising that Liverpool will not fulfil his need for trophies! As for Torres I cant really see him bragging to xavi, iniesta and co that Liverpool won the Europa league come the world cup and If he uses his head, he should seek an exit from Liverpool and join the team he should of orginally joined!
