    It was the right thing to do. I reckon we won the double last year in spite of ancelloti not thanks to him. A club like ours deserves to be competing with the likes of Barcelona and Man U, not finishing level on points to a team like Man City. We need a lot of changes in the summer. Mikel, Essien, Lampard, Malouda, Kalou, Torres out. Kaka, Iniesta, Fabregas, Sanchez, Robinho and Benzema in and Jose Mourinho back!

    As a fan, we need to look forward now, we have an ageing team and need a manager that is able to stamp his mark on the bridge. Ancellotie seemed passionless to me this year, i know we had some big players out for big parts of the year but he seems to have just gone oh well, shame. We just did not turn up to some games as we should have, we looked tired at times and laked the cutting edge. I hope whoever comes in is given a proper chance to do the job, i hope Abramavich stays out of there way and lets them pick who is in the team on and off the pitch, we have had some success, great we now need consistencey and a level headed aproach that is geard to building a team for the next few years and thus greater success, I cant see how we are going to do this with a manger every other season. I wish Ancellotie well, whats the betting he will team up with Willkins at another club?

    With all due respect to every critic here , including Paul Merson who was used to admiring Chelsea's strength at the beginning of the season , this team has some great players with great experience ! There is a difference between experience and a big belly running like Ronaldo in A.C Milan ! Chelsea need a new class manager and two or three players to be competitive in all competitions...

    Alex Thomas your a chelsea fan and you want ancelotti out. Merson is correct. and so is chris wright a man u fan. U know nothing, How about instead of slating the manager start with the players, Roman took out the experience of ballack, belletti, joe cole, carvalho and replaced them with what?? Ramires then torres and luiz half way through the season if anyones to blame its the owner himself fopr not prividing carlo with the goods he needed. You cant build success around 6 managers in 7 seasons you need an arsene wenger or alex ferguson UP THE CHELSEA

    Why do people love to perputrate the myth that it's so different over here/ When you're in England you go to the bottom club expecting to win. JUST LIKE IN SPAIN. Also just like in Spain you usually do win but occassionally don't think you'd see that if you looked.

    As a chelsea fan, im quite annoyed as to why we keep having to change managers. Carlo is a great manager, yes fair enough chelsea did not bring home a trophy this season but in his first year, he wins the double.It's just a continuous pattern, bring a manger in, sack him after one or two seasons. No disrespect to arsenal fans, but no trophy in 6 years, and arsene wenger is still there. I really don't know who would take the Chelsea hot seat. If i was to pick someone though it would have to be Hiddink!

    Merse the main fact is..CA came along when chelsea were on a high with the hiddink/wilkins aura and deserved the double..but this season was his season and he released 4 experienced players who can change a game..got unlucky with the bad patch of players out and suspended..but italians are never really good in the EPL and carlo's strange tactics/subsitutions and lack of flair on the sidelines filtered down to the players..ashley cole not bombing forward, malouda scared to run with it, drogba going for glory on his own, lampard/essien/anelka passing sideways, its negative football and then you add in torres who's outta form and trying to fit in and david luiz a young defender..it was only going to end 1 way and hopefully Hiddink is brought in with Wilkins by his side and we can start again with a few summer signings in flair and skilled talent to show the oldheads how to do it.

    @ Steve Wright: Vialli is not a world cup winner, his best finish with Italy is 3rd Place in 1990, he wasn't in the runners up squad in USA 1994. @ Alex Thomas, surely you can't be serious ? Abramovich spent the £50 million on Torres not Ancelotti & if you have 1 season without a trophy but finish 2nd in the league & reach the quarter finals of the champions league it can't be classed as a failure. Both Man U & Arsenal have done less than that recently but have stuck with their managers, because they don't have this incorrect sense that they are actually entitled to win things. They build for the future. If you're expecting a trophy every season because "you're chelsea" then you're delusional mate!

    Mers you say If you don't win the double you're out! Ancelotti hasnt won anything this season thats why he is out if you are successful one season and the next your completely the oposite which is true poor performances, poor cup runs and frankly nothing to show at apart from a 50 million pound reciept for a striker who looks like his days are past. If I was the chairman of the club and I looked at the facts which are Trophy's Season 1 League + FA Cup Total Spent (for arguements sake £20 million) and then Season 2 Trophy's 0 Total Spent £70 million ?? Then that doesnt add up for me Roman is looking for someone who can bring instant success and their expectations are to win a trophy a season, I believe had the team played better he would still be in a job but I feel that we wernt even close to winning anything this year! Sorry Carlo your OUT and mers your wrong if you think he should stay !

    i seem to have got greedy like most chelsea supporters....you thrive on success.i once looked over the threadbare stands with grass growing through the terracing in the 70's when only a clive walker goal kept us above the 3rd tier of english football for the first time in our history.come and gone since have been hoddle possibly the greatest talent englands produced,gullit world player of the year and vialli a world cup winner with italy not to mention others.abramovich many thanks for the progression weve achieved since....but although a business man of great wealth,have some style and when you install our next manager,give him a 5 year contract with the compassion that he might see those years through,and let him buy his own players and have his own ideas and staff..winning things is one thing.doing it with style and panache both on and off the field is another.

    We all know there is no such thing as a job for life any more...but hey, a job where you get the chance to build a future would be good. I think the Chelski job would be great for Y.T.S laddy...that way they would get a very early experience of "how easy it is to get the sack".

    I disagree with Paul Merson.. Ancelotti never should have been installed as the Chelsea manager, I was one of the few to state he was'nt a suitable candidate. People defend the Italian are ill informed and lazy to just put forward his two Champions league victories. Ancelotti was a poor manager in Serie A and only won the title once and was not even challenging for the scudetto in some of those years he was in charge of the AC Milan. he was a major contributory factor in taking Milan backwards and why they stagnated in serie A for so long. Champions league victories are impressive yet more scrutiny is required when judging a managers credentials and suitabliity to a particular job. Ancelotti has many weaknesses, not picked up by the Britsih media, including Pauls article. He is NOT a motivator, nor is he able to sufficiently influence a game mid flow, unlike someone like Jose Mourinho. His attitude also could be questioned as he did not show any appitite for remaining at Stamford Bridge and this filters down to the players who must have been aware weeks ago, if not months that Carlo would be leaving. Merson is wrong to question Villas Boas, who speaks excellent English and whilst young has the necessary qualities Chelsea need - a charasmatic manager who can inspire players, able to influence a game tactically and is ambitious. Whilst he has no experience of managing in the EPL this is an overstated and over used cliche. Did Mourinho or even Carlo Ancelotti have experience before taking the job ? Villa Boas is knowledgeable and intelligent enough to assume the role of manager at Chelsea and do you not think he would be aware of the other Premier leagues qualities, strengths and weaknesses? The Premier league and access to games and information is such that the 'experience' arguement falls short when highlighting as to why someone should not be given a job, instead other factors should be of higher consideration.

    Please, please, please, do not give the job to Marco van Basten. Bring back Hiddink, let him chose who his coaches are going to be, and most importantly, RA needs to stay out of what's happening on the pitch. It's no secret that Chelsea's season went down hill when Wilkins was sacked, that's someone that had passion and love for the club, didn't do anything wrong in my eyes, and got the sack!
