Some controversial choices make Peter Beagrie's Championship XI for the 2008/09 season.Back to story
i think its a very good team but i have to say i think that both john joe o'toole and graham alexander should be in the team and maybe robbie blakee as captian :)

Well I would only pick Ebanks Blake and Foley from my team , How McCshane gets ahead of Foley for Irelands Right back position is beyond me hes a Donkey , I think Westwood from Coventry is the Best keeper outside the Prem although a fit Matt Murray ( I wish ) would dwarf all keepers in the Championship , A fit and interested Kevin Doyle in my eyes is the best striker outside the Prem also , My team would be Westwood ( cov/gk , Foley ( ww/rb ) , naughton (sheff utd/lb ) , caldwell ( burnley/cb ) , St.Ledger ( pne/cb ) , blake ( burnley/rw ) , gomez ( swansea/lw ) , M.elliot ( bristol.city/cm ) , carsley ( bc/cm ) , Ebanks Blake ( ww/cf ) , scotland ( swansea/cf ) , with tommy smith ( watford ) and if Mccleish didn't swap his frwards aroud too much im sure phillips or jerome would have got in !!!

i think that martin rowlands should be in the team of the season purely because he a legend

I think Brian Stock of Doncaster should be in there

Andy Lonergan should be the goalkeeper, hes had an immense season at north end this season.

I know Davies has only been with us since Christmas but he has done more work in this short time with the club and players, than some managers do with their clubs all season. He got us from bottom of the league to finishing 6th bottom. Thats a massive task and Davies fulfilled it. I think he should get the managers position.

I say the managers position should go to Billy Davies, we was rock bottom at Christmas and he got us some excellent results against some of the top teams in the league, and we ended up finishing a huge 7pts clear of the drop. It was extremely difficult to get out of there.

Sheffield Wednesday players,, Marcus Tudgay + Tommy Spurr + Lee Grant have all been outstanding this season,, They should be in the team,, or just on outskirts

I think that Carsley and Taylor have been excellent for Blues this season! With how old Taylor is he is in his prime - two more seasons!! I think that the front pairing is spot on, Ebanks-Blake and McCormack have rightly earned their place - although Scotland has been brilliant for Swansea?!

y is there no jason scotland in this squad the joint second highest scorer in the league an scored more goals than ne of the premoted teams players did the choice is pathetic. Peter Beagrie is a joke y dont u grow a backbone an pick the best players of the seasons not the best reputations 'JOKER' !!!!

i dont like the way people are just selecting players from the team they support, only reason they are doing that is probably because they been watching them players all season and not been watching other players, maik taylor is a shocker though, no way should he be in the team of the year, i think brian jensen has had an awesome season and also has speroni, i also think that jason scotland has been unfortunate not to make the team and also greg halford has had a really impressive season with the blades. paul gallagher for plymouth aswell nearly carried that team to safety and why he wasnt getting selected for a run of games is just stupid, but i think VICTOR MOSES is the best player in the league,,easy!

I agree with other city fans - Sammy Clingan was outstanding in an otherwise poor side, also agree - Maik Taylor - whatever, he was dreadful at St. Andrews. OTBC, onwards and upwards, look out league 1 how big are you're garden sheds!!

There has been so many good players but most of them deserve to be in that team. I agree with Peter that Owen Coyle has been the best manager in the Championship this season. On the other hand there have been a handful of players who should be in there. The likes of Ross Wallace, Julian Speroni, Tommy Smith and Jamal Campbell-Ryce have been awesome this season.
Posted 15:51 18th May 2009
I cant believe Julian Speroni is not there he has been the best keeper by a country mile! How Taylor is the best keeper baffles me as i would also have Hennessy ahead os him! Also surprised to see no sign of Joe Ledly or Kevin Doyle.

All these fan's on here are just saying there best players not players who deservee to be in the team of the year, fans from bristol, plymouth and etc are just saying there fan favourties, there not thinking realisticly, the players are good but not good enough for the team of the year, i agree with taylor in goal as yes he has conceded the least but what about the preston goalkeeper? he made the most saves in the championship this season!... birmingham players haven't been good enough this season apart from the two in the team no more deserve it as we have been shocking how we did it i dont know but there need's to be signings and mr gold and sullivan need to get there wallets out!

Cerny is better than Taylor, hands down and Stewart is better than St Ledger
Posted 21:46 17th May 2009
I think that Brian Stock should have been included in the team of the year. We were bottom at christmas and everyones favourite to go down, Stock and Wellens have turned us around post xmas and we finished well clear of relegation.

why Ross Mccormack most of his goals were penalties and why no Nathaniel Clyne or Julian Speroni Rock solid all season in a dissapointing season for Palace.
Posted 18:13 17th May 2009
I believe that Julian Speroni and Nathanial Clyne deserve to be in this side. If it wasn't for their mammoth performances throughout the season then its likely we would have been facing relegation!
Posted 17:36 17th May 2009
Where's Charlton Athletic midfielder Nicky Bailey, who's scored 13 goals this season from the wing, and Robbie Blake is a striker not a winger like Bailey, just because we've a shocking season shouldn't mean one of the Championships best shouldn't be in the mix
