I agree with the goal keepers 100%. I think the defence is pretty much there, but I would consider Warnock from Aston Villa instaed of Baines. With the midfield, I would drop Carrick and Lennon, I think Lampard, Gerrard and Barry can all do the job that Carrick would do,and for me Lennon has pace but his crossing is terrible. I'd replace them with Joe Cole and David Beckham, you always need a plan 'B', and who's better at getting balls in to the box than Beckham. With the strickers I would make one change, drop Carlton Cole and take Agbonlahor. He's having a good season at Villa and that pace he has will scare any defence, a bit like Owen used too.

You must include Beckham in the Squad, Carlton Cole is not good enough I'm afraid neither is Upson on last nights performance, looked nervous, cant be having nerves at the biggest tournement in the world, also Wez Brown, I wouldn't include him in the Scotland team, so on that note, my replacements would be Lennon out, Beckham in, Upson & Brown out, Dawson & Jagielka in, Carlton Cole out, Bent in

I agree with most the team but would take darren bent instead of hekey after all he is having his best season so how can u leave that out for someone who is poor in front of goal and u already have two big men like carlton cole and crouch who are much better than him. Also would take joe cole infront of milner if he can find the form of old. And would make Hart as my number 1 goalkeeper incredible season for him. And would start carrick infront of lampard or gerrard not playing well enough and only getting in because of there names. Also make rooney or barry as captain.

Don't agree with taking Wes Brown, Upson or Heskey. Brown has never been good and he definately can't play RB, so if he's selected on the basis of being a CB then that is also ludicrous because he is probably outside the top 10 English CB's. I'd probably take Micah RICHARDS as the other RB. UPSON is good but there are better players, like SHAWCROSS or JAGIELKA. And finally HESKEY..What can you say, he is just awful how he gets picked for England is astounding. Again there are so many other strikers far better than him, and also why do you need to take him when you've got two other big fellas in CROUCH and COLE?? Give AGBONLAHOR the chance, he's proven in the Prem that he can score so just take him, he'll do far more than Heskey who spends more time on the floor!!! If Capello wants 3 big strikers then take KEVIN DAVIES instead. Starting line-up, wary about playing Ashley Cole especially after few months out and also coming up against Landon Donovan. Donovan caused him alot of difficulty recently and I can see it happening again.

Sort of agree with all thats been mentioned. Would have Beckham in squad for sure, dont see the point in having 4 central def in squad. First team: Green , A Cole, Terry, Rio, Johnson Barry and lampard in middle Lennon and Milner on wings Gerrard behind Rooney. NEED TO GIVE GERRARD CENTRAL ROLE NOW!!!!

Craig Dobson (Fulham fan) says...

Why is Zamora constantly overlooked by pundits and Capello alike. I don't quite understand it: as a link-up player, he brings as many others into the game as a Heskey or a Cole, and has still racked up almost 15 goals this season. It's also worth mentioning his incredibly high work-rate, something I thought Capello would appreciate. Still, not that surprised - Fulham are an unfashionable club compared to Villa or West Ham after all.

SWP is the most overated player in the premier league. All he ever does is over hit the ball and scuff and a croos and people cheer him cos he looks like he is tryin. He did a few last night, fair enough he got an assist but he should be gettin a lot more.

there is no way i would take the same defence is everyone forgetting micha richards?? lesscott baines brown should all stay home and richards warnock ok and maybe baines should go to the world cup the midfield is all good and the strikers well its rooney and the rest follow.

John Thomas (Stranraer fan) says...

Its no all about form,Aaron Lennon, he would go for me. We need to look for class anmd theo walcott has exactly that. David Beckham would be a must and i would like to see zamora given a chance rather that having all the highly paid rejects.

Still more than two months to go!!! If England wants to win against a side like Spain or Brazil or even Iviory Coast they need 3 players that is vital against such quality 1. Owen Hargreaves (Hope he makes it) - crucial against quality midfielders like XAVI and Co. barry wont do... 2. Joe Cole, easily the best technical player ENG have... need I say more... 3. Michael Owen - Still lethal will be crucial for Rooney & Gerrard to flow rthey are struggling with injuries & form but the time is still there

i think hart should be number one, his been immense all season, back 4 picks it's self, lennon, carrick, lampard, swp, swp can influence a game and change it and his speed is unbelievable. striker's would have to be rooney and unfortunately i have to admit crouch. i think fab needs to grow a pair and drop either gerro or lamps because they can;t play on the same pitch and gerro can't play left wing.

Andrew Evans (Manchester United fan) says...

That definitely makes for interesting reading, although I disagree with a couple of points. Lampard was, once again shocking for England. No one can deny he is a talisman for Chelsea, but for me he is no more than a sub at international level. I would start Carrick, I don't think he has been amazing for United this season but his style suits the international game. I would also take Joe Cole ahead of Lampard, he offers more at this level. I wouldn't take Terry, I just feel that the Bridge incident has really affected his game and he's a bit of a liability at the moment. I would take Shawcross and Dawson in place of Terry and Upson (never looked an international level defender). I would also take Beckham ahead of one of the strikers. Ashley Young and Wright-Phillips would be a tough call to make as I think either could do the job. I really couldn't justify Heskey at all. I know that everyone likes to play up front with him, but if you're going to use a big striker then Crouch gets the nod for me everytime. I really think that Capello already knows his squad, I just hope that we don't take any passengers on this trip - we can't afford them.

David James has never been good enough to play at international level, I'm amazed that he is still in contention even now.

Darren Bent doesnt even get a shout when tlaking about Engand now. Heskey should be in he doesnt get a game for Aston Villa and you dont need Crouch and Carlton Cole. MAy i remind everyone that bent was startingwith rooniey in quatar agianst Brazil and you cant just not give him a chance because like the team he had a poor game. Wes Brown will drop clangers and i never see im play good and i think lee cattermole will be a suprise contender come june as he is U21 captain and was terrific before his injury that he is recently back from.

while i agree with most of your selections and reasoning behind them I do think there will be a few differences. barrring any injuries I reckon this will be the squad. Goalkeeper spot on unless there are injuries hart, green, james defence ferdinand, terry, upson, johnson, cole, baines, brown if cole and johnson cant make it i recon warnock and micha richards will be in midfield barry, gerard, lampard, lennon, wright-phillips, milner, downing, cole, carrick if cole is injured beckam or young will prob get in maybe adam johnson could surprise everybody? forwards defoe, rooney, crouch, cole or heskey

James Gs (Hull City fan) says...

Agree with lots of the comments - Beckham has to go; we don't need Heskey, Crouch AND C.Cole (2 is plenty), and there are concerns at the back. Here's a new thought - take 2 keepers and Jagielka (probably won't be called upon to keep goal but can do so in an emergency and is a decent centre-back). Here's an old thought - Gerrard and Lampard just don't play well together. Stick Milner on the left and put Lamps on the bench.
