After England's exit from the World Cup, James Riach considers Fabio Capello's position.Back to story
Calm down everybody!! First thing is first, get rid of Fabio quick!! Next, FA needs to be realistic about the selection criteria on national manager(s). Be realistic in the process, England needs more chalenging qualifying games before the tournaments. Surely you can't expect to secure the world cup by ducking and avoiding weathy opponents hoping to triumph. Just have a look at the group opposition. Quit the blame game, suck it up and play the game as it should. Four decades of excuses! We suck!!! Romney is no world class player. Romney, Gerrad, Heskey, Terry, Cole, Dafoe are not good enough for England. Their influence on and off the pitch if negative. Also, the FA needs fresh blood, cos they have their heads stuck in the clouds right now. It's going to take another 5 world cups until we wake up becouse it the moment it's a nightmare. Suck Fabio NOW!!!

We all think we could manage England to world cup glory but who's to say our tactics would have done any better? I still have faith in Capello as long as he can kick the players into shape for the european qualifiers. Our mistakes were made in the group stages, finishing top would have give us games against Ghana and Uruguay, tough games but games that allow you to find form and go through the gears. As good as Rooney is he was trying too hard and drifting out to the left as Gerrard was out of position, with the fact he looked off the pace, maybe he should have been dropped as much as I never thought I would say that.

The English fans must wake up it is not all capello's fault. For YEARS the FA has run the England team they pick the stars and ask the manager to fill in the rest, this is soley for the commerial value of England brand and to sell shirts. The manager must be aloud to pick the team and I mean the whole team. Would Capello in his heart of hearts pick half the team I don't think so. P.S Adam Johnson should have went (and i'm a united fan), for years England have been calling for a left sided player USE HIM!!!!

Physiologically the 'goal' that was not given in truth destroyed the momentum that would I'm sure have seen a stronger and motivated England team come out for the second half. England were then forced to push forward and paid the ultimate price, sadly because 2 officials were in truth unprofessional at the highest level, I wonder how they felt as the screens around the pitch replayed the 'goal' along with the England team around them knowing they were robbed....Justin Rose lost it mentally today and blew a four stroke lead, when the mind gets lost you lose....

Firstly, Its the England teams mistake for how they have played all weekend and being their fan makes me now loose the confidence in the team because they don't play as a team and play as a kick about in the park. Secondly, Fabio doesn't know how to pick his team he is just keeping the 'TRYING' button ON and not being fix to one regular first team of his own. And not taking theo walcott i dont know why he made that decision and rather taking heskey. I don't think Fabio knows what formation to play and where the players normally play so he just keeps on trying where they can play or what. Thank Fabio I would fire him but would also give him a second chance. but i guess firing him would be a better option and bring in some one more capable and paying him a reasonable amount but making the team win, would be a rather more sensible decision.

It is not just one thing, I have no idea what Capello was saying most of the time, especially after today's game. We need to limit the foreigners in the Prem and try to blood young talent, tactics wrong - we needed goals so we bring on Heskey? We need to clear out the deadwood - Heskey, Barry, Wright-Phillips, Lampard to an extent - never played well for England (although today one of his better performances)....not sure where we go from here. Redknapp quality as a Manager but his expertise is in the transfer market, no good for England!

Don't blame the manager. What tools were at his disposal?Overpaid and overrated prima donas who have an inferior technique to teams even like Algeria! The Premiership is also a haven for foreign mercenaries who come and earn a fortune at the expense of home grown talent.Arsenal have a crop of French players-----they were even worse than us!The poor ordinary working fan has to pay extortionate money in order to watch these overpaid so called superstars ,who earn millions at our expense.Rooney,Lampard,Gerrard,Terry and of course Cashley Cole. You should be ashamed.Your attitude has let down the travelling fans who have scrimped andsaved in order to support you!You should be big enough to offer them a full refund. The FA is also culpable.I would also urge them to take a leaf out of Germanies book and revamp our game, and return the game to british values!

Why is fabio capello being punished for what the players are doing. Surely if the players are playing, its their job to win. Every time a team does bad it always seems to be the managers fault.

Well, totaly confusing team you are! This is big lesson for the whole nation as well YOU ARE NOT SAINTS!Greetings from Croatia!

I had these questions before the plane left for the W/C Why was Sol Campbell overlooked to 1 a player WHO MEDICALY can not play all the games required, or 2, a defender that had, had a poor season in a poor Liverpool team and had been begged out of turning his back on the team to begin with ??? Then why is many top nations go with players who are on fire in terms of there job ie scoring goals and not past play etc... namely Bent overlooked for a player that CAN NOT and probable will not get in his own club team ????? Why fork out on stupid fees to a coach that had not even been with us in proper competition again basing it all on his past job/roles and a C.V ??? Why have the embarrasment of Beckam on the bench WHAT was his job jee the players up erm ... yea they really were fired up, or was it as a HAIR dresser ???? I tried to satrt this as questions to ponder, but enoughs enough ANSWERS you soft ponces, you have disgraced millions....

Will the FA get a grip and lets sort out all the problems in our game, you are killing us we need a English Manager who understands the what England needs to make us great again, we are a joke with over the top paid players who are great for Clubs but once that England shirt is on its about England and history not money time to move on there are kids in the local parks would die just to put that shirt on and play, get the young guns in and build from that please COME ON ENGLAND and the FA hahaha

We've had easy going Sven and now School master Capello and what difference has it made?? Lets be honest 30 + year olds cannot play 50 games plus and still be fit at the worlds most important tournament. Its actually quite simple, good players don't always play on a regular basis (look at Klose, not even a sub at Bayern or Podolski below average at Köln) and they must have fresh legs. Germany's youngsters showed us how to play. Remember back in November 2009 when we won 1-2 with a young team!! Food for thought. Either Capello or a new manager must start with younger squad and with a system which doesn't confuse the players. I had the feeling the players weren't sure which way to play, at time they seemed totally confused. Time for for the 30 + lads to be left out and build a new young side..

Why do we take "names" to every tournament as opposed to players that are in form !! Darren Bent has been outstanding this year - Heskey er - how many did he score this season? Green/Upson - losers !!. At least James/A Cole /Lampard/ gave some effort !! We have 2 years, lets dump the OLD guard and start a fresh - we have the talent !. Let Harry/Shearer take them forward - as much as I would be gutted to see Harry go at Spurs
Posted 21:40 27th June 2010
Haha, you English fans are all the same. Get an English born manager. Sure, you had, in McClaren. And what did he bring? Failed qualification for EURO 2008? What about good ol' King Kev for EURO 2000? You English fans are all the same to me.
Posted 21:36 27th June 2010
Please get rid of Fabio and give Harry Redknapp the job! England were a disgrace and Rooney was awful! Why we took Heskey god only knows and we should of started with Crouch & Defoe instead as they know each others game and would have had some ariel threat with the 6ft plus Germans!
Posted 21:35 27th June 2010
Manager has to go - his tactics are unreal and terry even spoke out but yet he still tried his rubbish - they did not show at all and it lies with him - Rooney and Milner should learn the national anthem - every player apart from them 2 in all the games, they do not deserve to wear the shirt of england. Bring in Harry Red- or give it to Stuart Pearse at least they will be English - We got beat way too easy by a normal side
Posted 21:35 27th June 2010
Bye Bye Fabio, Harry Rednapp or Roy Hogson or Trevor Brooking. England were just poor and Rooney was no more better than a pub player.
Posted 21:32 27th June 2010
Time to start over and do what the germans have done and bleed the youngsters. Use the euro 2012 as a warm up and blood the new generation. We were runners up in the under 21 competition (i think). Put pearce in charge, he knows the youngsters better than anymore! If we qualify for the euros, great. Lampard retire, gerrard to play off tje front man/ top of the diamond. Adam johnson and walcott on wings. Make sense to me!

The Fans need a scape goat for England's failures' and now Capello is it. It is not fair. He did his best. The players were at fault. English players are so overrated or they do not want to play at national level. Rooney.. is he the best stiker we got but didn't look like it. Praising Milner..the guy lost half of the possesion against Slovenia and Against Germany, well didn't impress. Gerrard was way below Par. Even at the end of the game they didn't look too bothered. Looking at Brazil 2014, i see no young talent in the English Team to take over. Why, because in the best league in the world, they favor foreingers and now England had to play a bunch of tired of 30 some players to defend their national colors. Pathethic. no Manger will work miracles until we have a descent crop to work with. For the moment all we got are a bunch of old millionaires trying to put one more medal in their cabinets to boast later as managers. England ..wake up.Train your young ones and stop branding the few average young English players in the Prem as Stars.
Posted 21:27 27th June 2010
Its about time Englands players take responsibility and stop allowing the Managers 2 get the blame its not Capello's fault we need 2 stop blaming the managers and start blaming the players if we are ever going to succeed at the end of the day the team Capello played is good enough to give anyone a good game what other manager of england has capello's record? Players like Rooney Terry Lampard Gerrard have to take responsibility Terry Lampard and Gerrard have to live with the fact that the have failed in their last World Cups because realistically they wont be in the next one and they only have themselves to blame.
