Keith Openshaw (Manchester City fan) - Mexico's disallowed goal was offside as the Mexican scorer was ahead of the goalkeeper when the ball was played. That is classed as offside, despite the defender on the line. Learn the rules before commenting on refereeing performances

sorry keith but the goal was offside the goalie was clearly ahead of the player even though there was a south african defender standing postside. if the keeper is ahead of the attacker as the ball is played he is offside

It wasn't a bad start for the host in the tournament after allowing the Mexicans to dictate the pitch in the first 45 minutes. The bafana bafana realising that a good start would determine their progress simply came back forcefully in the second half but were unlucky not to have carried the day.I wish good luck would crown their efforts in subsequent games.

The officiating was poor. The Mexican goal that was ruled offside was onside. Another offside decision was wrong because the ball came off a SA player. At least one goal kick should have been a corner and so on. I hope the standard improves otherwise there will be 'hand of god' goals etc.. There should be video playback.
