Green is not the one to blame he pretty much saved us the game with his good save onto the post in the second half England and we should have taken our chances. We were the better side some how Heskey actually played well although he missed a sitter Joey Cole should have started over Milner to be honest and Gerrard and Lampard were good in midfield people are saying to drop Frank its stupied he only did one bad pass not long after gerrard did his and he took a bad free kick. Also what is the deal with ITV and there adverts when something good is about to happen first they go to the break in an fa cup game 2 seasons ago and now this I havent been able to cheer for an England goal yet !!!!

Again, England goes into a major tournament concerning themselves about winning the final. Should be more concerned about passing the group stage first. Where was England 2 years ago? Same players... same mediocrity. Remember stop calling your players world class; Outside England, no one calls them World class. The proof is in the results... Think about this; When was the last time England beat a top 10 ranked team? Case closed.

David Harvey (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...

England were too predictable. Long ball up the middle to try and find Heskey/Rooney. Lampard too many square balls. If we have wingers why do we not use them. Give Defoe a chance. We need pace around the box. Not donkeys.

Kevin Cramer (Arsenal fan) says...

A very ordinary (some might say pedestrian) England side...the players looked devoid of imagination & lacked flair...but that's England...schoolboy error from Green....perhaps the schoolboy side is where he should be playing...

Mike Brown (Aberdeen fan) says...

What a surprise once again you hype it all up and have won the World Cup before the first ball is kicked, you have a good team which has an outside chance but a media which do your nation no favours.

Awful display. Perfect starting line up but for green (who (to further his career) must join a team like arsenal.i believe he has skill to be a great keeper, just needs world class players round him for club + country . arsenal PLEASE give him a chance!). He can put the mistake behind him. Carson did same and he survived, and that cost england euro 08. James should play rest of WC just to play safe with his experience. J Cole should of played instead of SWP but all in all, NOT a catastrophe. if anything more positive then negative.

I love how you English have an over inflated sense of how good your players are. Wayne Rooney and Stephen Gerrard are the only world class players in the squad. All the rest are useless. No speed. Strength thrills... SPEED KILLS! Wake up, you are lucky Altidore didn't wreck your pies tonight! That would have been the only "Earned" goal of the night!

You have to realize England have not played a lot of matches or tournaments as a team. The US team played as a team in many strong tournatments. People seem to forget the US team beat a full strength Spain team in South Africa last July in the Confederations Cup and stretched my Brasil only to lose 3-2. Too much hype for a "ok" team with one or two deserving stars. US was lucky but England should be worried.

Marcus Riissanen (Manchester United fan) says...

The attacking midfield, if England had one, was far too slow! And Rooney didn´t get any balls, all England did was to kick long balls to Heskey/Crouch, and what we saw was the result, absolutely rubbish! Of course you can blame Green, which you will, but the problem is much bigger, and Mr Capello has a lot of job to do with the midfield, to get Lampard and Gerrard to play better. Why can´t England play 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1? Rooney alone at top, Gerrard and Lampard behind him, Barry or Carrick as a defensive midfielder. That would give much more speed to the attacking. But I suppose Mr Capello knows best, doesn´t he?

Ismail Ahmed (Newcastle United fan) says...

Where was Rooney? the most overestimated player in the World Cup. Heskey showed him up, next time Heskey will surely score. Eriksson; who people never give credit to, got England to the quarter finals in the last world cup, Capello will be lucky to even do that with this team. come on England and show us the quality of players you have.

Terry Laycock (Middlesbrough fan) says...

i can't believe i was watching the same game as some so called england fans. heskey was in fact englands best player lennon and wright philips were almost invisible. we will still qualify but the best we will do is to reach the semi finals. as for the anti english comments from the scottish fans i suppose they have seen so little proper football over the years they are blinded by their prejudice

We were lucky this was only the USA. Rooney looked tired from start to finish!!. Good ol Stevie G.. Led the team from start to finish.. However, to progress we need to improve by 100%

Just gonna sorry to all England fans before I say anything. Firstly Robert Green is crap, if he's suppose to be a premiership goalkeeper then there's gonna be a lot of long shots against west ham next year, David James wouldn't have made such an childish error. Secondly why the hell did England play the long ball all the time. All the players on that team are from the top teams in the premiership, so theyt should be able to connect passes and open up defenses. I mean they do that week-in week-out in the premiership, why can't they do it here. it's the same ball and i doubt the pitch here is better than the one's they usually play on, so why resort to the long-ball method?? and Finally I think subbing out Milner so early in the game was a mistake. i personally would've given him until half time before subbing him and I would've brought on someone else instead of Shaun Wright-Phillips, he didn't actually do anything worth noting.

Chris Chau (Manchester United fan) says...

England are not well organized today, in both attacking and defending. We missed the speed and calmness from Ferdinand. Green, Lennon and Wright-Phillips are not good enough. Hope to see Joe Hart, Joe Cole, Barry and Milner in the next game.

Peter Goodall says...

Oh for the sake of Saint George - get over yourselves. The national football supporters in the UK are the most fickle bunch of clowns in the world. England did not play badly - bar that slip of concentration they outplayed the USA in every department. I am supporting SA - and even though I know there is not a snowballs chance of winning it - they will continue to get my support. Do the same for your players - if it's so easy - get a ticket to SA and let Capello know you are en route to save the day. Absolute muppets!

David Cleland (Manchester United fan) says...

F. Lampard was, as usual, absent for his country. It is easy to blame Green, but where was the midfield today? Gerard was class, the rest were all sleeping. Hope it gets better.

Some of the comments make me laugh, i thought heskey was our best player. I actually didnt think it was as bad as all these neg head comments. We will go through but this is england and its gonna be a rollercoster

Nick Riley (Chelsea fan) says...

Do not be fooled, USA are a good side - remember the Confederations Cup?. Not a great start by England but from here we can build momentum. Don't believe the over-hype but don't write us off yet. Brazil, Italy, Germany - even England in '66 - started slowly or poorly and went on to win. I still believe.
