Everyone blames Green, but NOBODY closed shots down, an English weekness regardless of any GK errors.

The first mistake was R.Green dipping his goalie gloves in some South African goat's butter milk. Second mistake ad third mistake intertwine now; Why start a player (milner) who has been sick all week? Then, when you realize he needs more time to recover, why did SWP go on for him ahead of J.Cole? SWP, as he has for City all season, came on and made no impact. J.Cole is a much bigger impact player. Hell how dd SWP get on the plane ahead Wacott to begin with? There's another mistake! Finally, we play Mr. Incredibly Good alongside JT. Unfortunately Mr. Incredibly Good can also be called Mr. Messed Up Knees I Have Another Injury, and today we saw that with his substitution at half-time. That took away a very much needed sub for later in the game when we were trying to get ourselves back in the lead. Rooney also disappointed today... one word; spectator. It's suddenly dawned on me why it's so good for my health for the World Cup to be only every 4 years.

A huge thank you from this USA fan. You clearly weren't taking us Yanks seriously, starting Green and Heskey as you did, and you paid for it. Cheers!

Someone ask Gary Blake what he thought of the rest of the team? What has it got to do with West Ham fans? I am one and Green deserves the crticism but the rest of the muppets couldn't beatan ordinary US side.

Dave Manning (Bolton Wanderers fan) says...

Lampard nowhere to be seen, Green=joke, Heskey held ball up well, made the odd good pass but couldn't score in a brothel. Milner should never have been taken off, cos he shouldn't have been on in the first place. Ledley king should just give it up.decent player but what's the point in playing a man who is and will never be fit enough. Pretty embarrasing really

USA defended briliantly. I have to say as an American, we really can beat anyone. Dont worry though England you should still get out of the group and go far.

Awful. Heskey was our best player which says a lot. I can't say I'm suprised at such a poor performance. It goes all the way back to Abramovich bringing his money to the English game and ruining it.

Alan Barlow (Everton fan) says...

Aart from the error by rob green this was a good performance by england. unfortunately it rather deflated the great work from everyone in the england team. then a fantastic save in the 2nd half. i would question, however, on why, because he was still weak from that stomach bug milner was on from the start, from the whistle he looked as though he was somewhere else. i dont question the lad's ability but he shouldn't have started the game. it may be rather more difficult against algeria, they have nothing to lose, we do, so 3 points would have been the only start I would have wanted. the next game is in Jo'burg and we know how hot that can be, more suited to middle eastern folk than europeans, think on it.

Oh my god what is wrong with you all. did you thing USA would be a walk over semi finals in the last world cup and narrowly lost to Brazil in the summer in the confederations cup. We dominated and if heskey was better finishing we would have won, ok a mistake by green but dont worry. We will win the next 2 games and go thourgh no problem so dont worry!!

i feel as though people are over reacting to this result. if you look at the last world cup italy also drew with usa 1-1, but grew into the tournament as it progressed. in fact most teams who win the world cup, gradually gain momentum; not peaking too early. with regards to green i have never had much confidence in him, and i believe capello needs to change the goalkeeper before one of his mistakes proves terminal to our chances.

Excelent game!!!!......shame about Green .....we will get even better so many great performances except in the USA team they were poor but we did not score enough....Feel sorry for Algeria they will pay the price for todays game.....BEST England performance in years....."LET THE LIONS ROAR"

Tom Corrigan (Fulham fan) says...

Wow. I love the little adjectives that lessens the way USA played. Dempsey's "Tame" shot. Garbage. That shot had a lot of english on it, no pun intended. English keepers are known for their choking in big situations. The United States met every challenge England had for them, with ease. They even had the redcoats on their heels for a large portion of the game. England threw in the towel when they brought Crouch in. Everybody watching knew that all they were going to do is send the ball in the air and hope for the best. USA were the better performing team today without a doubt. It's just unfortunate that everybody in the UK (mainly journalists) can't give credit where credit is due and they have to defame other countries. Blame the ball, blame the keeper, blame the horns. Most of all, blame yourselves. The English didn't capitalize on any of their chances. I understand you have to spin this for the bias of your country but this article is just shameless.

Sunny Akbar (Manchester United fan) says...

I thought Capello made a number of bad decisions. Firstly starting Milner instead of Joe cole was just un-explainable - considering how cole has played in the last few games and Milner has been "injured" that really was an odd decision. And yes Heskey worked hard - but do we really need that to beat a team like USA? Sure against the likes of Spain or Brazil, we need someone to hold up the ball. But against a team like USA, skill/creation would have seemed better (hence starting with cole considering he is the closest thing we have to a creative player). And even to bring on Wright phillips instead of cole was just plain stupid...he did nothing. Frankly, lampard doesn't do it for me for England. Stevie G and Heskey can be proud of their performance,,,they did justice to their shirts. As for carragher and terry - no pace probably means they will likely be exposed and punished against the better teams (assuming King's injury is bad). All in all 6/10, and that is being generous. P.s. Rooney needs to step up. Its his stage to shine on. Only the great players make their mark on this stage

Adrian Ross (Liverpool fan) says...

Goodness, that was really really bad. For a moment I thought I was watching my boys under 8's league. Hit it and hope, passing was schoolboy. Forget the Goalie error, that was only for split second, the rest of the team were crass for the entire 90. If we play a good side like spain etc we are doomed

Carl Merz (Manchester United fan) says...

this looked the same as all the other tournaments england play in could not see what capello as done different gerrard cannot make a ten yard pass and lampard hides wright philips had ten good minutes then vanished should have kept swapping wingers over as frustrating as all the other england games in tournaments we as fans are supposed to know nothing supposed to have fa coaching badges to do anything but who would want there name on this shambles

Gordon Smith (Dundee United fan) says...

England can still do it - they are slow starters usually. Do not have a go at the goalie he is normally safe and capable. Get this out of the system COME ON I HAVE £30 on England to win the thing.

This was not a good performance from england but the anti english comments from scottish fans are a disgrace. we will still qualify from the goup and the scottish fans should remember you have to be in it to win it.
