England bowed out of the World Cup in humiliating fashion as they were comfortably beaten 4-1 by Germany in Bloemfontein.Back to story
Argentina have the luxury of technology ?????? So why not England , could have changed the lads frame of mind ,

The England team played rubbish call themselves world class players, thats a JOKE!!! after that humiliating game they should all give their pay to charity. They should come home to no supporting fans waiting and hang their heads in shame . Useless
Posted 20:25 27th June 2010
But Fabio, we have already beaten the Germans 3 times and we beat Argentina in the 80's. Let them have their day!

Really fancied England going into this one as felt we were starting to emerge as a team. Concerned all along over formation as felt Gerrard wasted wide on the left and should have played in the hole behind Rooney with Joe Cole wide on the left. Upson and Terry at the back left us woefully short of pace at the back and lack of understanding between the two was ruthlessly exposed by the counter attacking Germans. Ferdinand a big miss and ghost performances from our "big players" leaves me scratching my head - winter break?. Not so sure we are as bad as some are making out and feel there is more to come out of the England camp as to the unrest amongst the squad. England's fruitless "golden era" has now passed, so let's get behind Sir Trevor Brooking' vision for the future of English football. Let our academies rise up ...........

England deserved a thumping, all the commentators big headed comments before the game even started and all the English fans , putting your own players under so much pressure especially Ronney. The poor lad was put under the pressure of having to produce lots of goals .He didn't play because he was nervous incase he let down his country .The so called "Mighty England ."If you all would stop being so big headed and pressurising your big players may start producing when they need to .I know you are giving them alot of support which is great but there's to much pressure. Anyway Germany were outstanding , phenominal football ! Ozil's price will double over the next few weeks , his passing and agility was top class , and the whole German team were head and shoulders better .

If you were to rewind all the pundits comments on all channels over the last 3 or 4 days not one said Germany would win and you guys have the cheek to call the Germans arrogant!?! It's laughable! Non of the players were good enough! Gerrard is good but not World class neither is Lampard and neither is Terry! Work horses? Definately but not World class. If I had to pick out a player who I think could settle in any team then I'd say Ashley Cole but the rest are just average and always have been! There is a massive issue in English football! The Premiership is overloaded with foreign players and run by clubs that have no concept of anything other than trying to win trophies at any cost. The youth system simply doesn't work and the techniques that are used in soccer academies are pathetic. Something from the 80's. The Sunday league youth teams are governed by parents who have no concept of football(believe me, you think you do but you don't). Above all this you have an FA who quite frankly are stuck in the dark ages. All this hype, all these promises hahaha. It's sad but some people should be ashamed of themselves and believe me it's not just the players and the manager! Here's to 4 years time. Let's predict the headlines again! 'We can win the World Cup', 'The Germans look average' etc etc oh and let's not forget highlights from 66! It's a shame that a nation that loves football so much actually plays the biggest part (right from that father on the Sunday league pitch to the guy at the FA) in destroying it! Better luck next time, you'll need even more. Let's all sit down and marvel at the players coming in to replace the older guys! Erm........ which ones?

England performed just as I predicted..............Germany were in Formula one condition, England were like a second hand 1950 Skoda well past it's service date. Let's cut straight to the chase.........there are NO World class players in the England team, only good players who cannot perform at the highest level. Germany played modern football, England haven't moved forward. The great Messiah NOT Sagio Failpello has insisted on crap formations and tactics. England were lucky to get through the group stages. Well it'll be 48 years before England football team get another chance to bring home some silverware. England are once again a total embarrassment. At least I can take comfort from the cricket team hammering the Aussies, look forward to the Ashes and the Cricket World Cup, as well as the Rugby World Cup in 2011.

Deeply embarrassing. They can't control the ball, can't pass, can't run off the ball, first touch is woeful.... Why don't they run with the ball? Is this too much for their skill level? Lazy, overpaid and over-rated. All they have demonstrated throughout their "campaign" (mmm) is supreme arrogance through their lack of convinction. Will they be bothered really? I doubt it. I'm sure their failure and the disappointment that hundreds of thousands of fans young and old will be a distant and insignificant memory for them next week as they slip into their Aston Martins.......

quite simply the biggest issue is WHY john terry plays for england???? We should have got rid of him immediately when he started shagging a team mates girlfriend.. todays display by terry proves he has NOTHING world class about him.. GIFTING a goal straight from a goal kick is UNFORGIVABLE sure ferdinand should have been fit but no point bitching about it. ENGLAND as a team were poor today YEAH we had a goal dissallowed TOUGH SHT.. payback for 1966 i guess? for the one that may not have been a goal? fact remains ENGLAND today didnt have the goods so lost fair n square. Rooney was poor this time round ( world cup) but then again none of the english team seemed to cope with the high temperatures of africa. so its back to the drawing board and work on the euros next. im sure england WILL win something but not just yet and certainly NEVER if terry plays. the lack of RESPECT for officials and also his manager means he should NEVER put a three lions shirt on again.

Simply awful! The players didnt look up for it and the manager's tactics were just wrong! Why has Barry been playing when he starts huffing and puffing after 20 minutes? Why is Gerrard still not being used effectively or even in the right position? Why when we are 2-3 goals down are we bringing on SWP and Mr never-has-been-and never-will-be--prolific Heskey!!!!??? Shocking! We missed Parker who could of got us back possession, esp with our so called 'world class' players unable to string more than 3 passes together, and also A Johnson/ Walcott's width and pace. At least the last 2 weeks have prepared us for this, but are the FA going to be willing to part with 18 mil and accept they were wrong...unlikely? Why do we pay 3 times more than all the other top nations........? Question questions and more questions

Despite the display the debate will come down to the goal that never was. It was obviously a goal, everyone but the 2 most important men could see that. Either way you look at it though England completely underperformed in the tournment. As a red I'm going to stick up for Rooney. The notion that he's not good enough by some England fans is ridiculous and shows how truly fickle football fans are. The boy wasn't at his best but who was? His main problem was that he was starved of service. He had to drop into midfield to get a kick. It's no cooincidence that he had his best season last year playin as THE goal scorer. Gerrard plays his best off a main striker, so why wouldn't they play this way for England? Easier said than done I presume. One more point, how is Gareth Barry constantly picked? There seems to be some kind of myth regarding this player. What does he offer to the team when he can't pass a ball to save his life? Nearly every goal we gave away in the tournament came from him giving the ball away. It baffles me that no one ever seems to pick up on his lack of ability. Michael Carrick on the other hand can out pass anyone in the squad. Granted he didn't play great toward the end of the season but surely there's a reason why he plays for united and Barry plays for city?

you english make me laugh you go on as if you are going to win the world cup every time when you arent good enough to make the quarters
Posted 20:03 27th June 2010
I must be the only english men to say this but congratuaions to germany, they desverved win, even if lamps goal would of counted, we simply arent good enough to be there. what i have seen in the 4 games we played, has been utter humilliating. Rooney may aswell have been left at home, gerrards leadership skills were a joke, and tactically we didnt have a clue, we are a global joke!. its time to start afresh, bring in the youth of Hart, Dawson, Lennon, Milner, Young, Agbonglahor. After this world cup display half of team should never wear the 3 lions shirt again, and capello should rethink his future, why he could not see that his tactics of 4-4-2 didnt work is beyond me, playing gerrard on th left, doesnt work, putting heskey on at all doesnt work, then today he brings joe cole on and put him on the right! In some ways in glad were out at least we havent got to watch that crap anymore. Some of those players need to take a hard long look inside because they havent got the heart to play.

I feel completely embarassed by the England 'football match' I've just witnessed...Am just watching Argentina score against Mexico and the passion Maradona is showing puts our players and manager to shame. As for the match, Upson at centre back when Carragher has more international experience, no width, no pace down the flanks...And who do they bring on when we're in need of goals...HESKEY...Who hasn't scored for FOUR MONTHS. Germany showed us how it should be done. All in all, players not good enough, and they don't care enough. An English manager next please...Harry Rednapp!!!!
Posted 20:02 27th June 2010
Of all the things that went wrong today and there were many, bringing on Heskey for Defoe had to be one of the worst footballing decisions by an England Manger that I have witnessed in 40 odd years of watching football... Capello should be sacked for that decision alone.... Having said that most of our team should hang their heads in shame, disgraceful performance....
Posted 20:01 27th June 2010
What the hell was that!! Capello has to go total clueless, he put's one one the world best CENTRAL midfielders in the left, he then takes Defoe off for Heskey who cant hit a barn door, put Joe Cole on the right a left winger and then put Shaun on at right back what is he doing????? England have been poor right from the first minute 2 weeks ago, the goal that wasnt given may have changed the game but that doesnt say anything about the poor defending and its somethhing when you lose 4-1 and james was the best player on the pitch ( not just because im a pompey fan, they said that on the bbc after the game too) Wonder what would have happened had the specail one waited a few weeks?

We keep picking and putting our faith in the same players and we keep getting the same results. Time to start looking to the future. Limit the number of foreign players in the premiership and start bringing new young English talent through our academies. I for one feel sorry for Wayne Rooney - there was so much hope placed on his young shoulders - and the whole world was knew this - it was so so easy to take him out of the game - he didn't stand a chance. The pain and expectation is over again.

Did anyone actually think we were going to outclass Germany, after dismal draws against the USA and Algeria, followed by a narrow win over the world football force that is Slovenia? The massive hype before this game was totally unjustified and, as it turns out, everyone got a reality check. Totally outclassed in every department and completely inept tactics from the manager. How many other players would have been dropped after three bad performances? Obviously this doesn't apply to Rooney. He was horrendous in every game. Your average football fan knows how much more effective Gerrard is in the centre, so let's stick him out on the left. Milner may be a good crosser, but he has the acceleration of a lame carthorse. Not what's needed against class teams. Upson and Terry were all over the place, probably through a lack of not playing together. But this defeat was very much a team effort. Not once but twice, we were less than 20 yards from the German goal and within 30 seconds the ball was in the back of the England net. A disgrace.

Also, i have to say that i knew we would really miss Rio but all the United haters laughed at me. More concerningly, i also wanted Bent and Adam Johnson in the squad. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but i said this before the world cup that we needed guile and experience. We took planty of experience but very little guile. Where was Lennon & Joe Cole? Why was there so much emphasis on Barry and Milner, Why play Mathew upson who playes for a team that nearly got relegated and not Dawson who plays for a team that finished in the top 4. Where was our passion, why couldn't we sting more than 1 forward pass together. There are so many questions. That in itself is a huge worry. This is England. This is a team with some English players that have dominated the Champions league for the last 4 years. Yet on the worlds biggest stage, players playing out of position or not playing in the manner that they do for their clubs. This is all so strange. Was it Capello and his tactics or was it the players just not doing what they were told. The biggest question is where was Rooneys service? Personally, i would now drop every single player except Dawson, Hart and Carrick who didn't even kick a ball and Crouch, Joe Cole and Arron lennon who werent given much chance. Drop everyone else and now make them prove themselves. Any other English players playing for lesser clubs, may not have the ability but blimey, i bet they sure as hell will have the spirit.

Germans were in total control from the start, far far superior team. Most of the folks down south need ti realize their team are rubbish and way overhyped by the press only so they can rip them when they fail and sell more papers!! haha will they ever learn....
